I just saw the 2006 film. Didn't like it at all, totally confusing, and the attempts at humour were just painful. I didn't realize beforehand that it was more comedy than sci-fi. A little better towards the end.
I mostly watched it to listen to Moby's score, one of his few for feature movies. The music was surely the best thing about the 145 minute film. Good score in typical Moby vein, I wish he scored more films. Soundtrack includes 5 of his tracks, totalling 25 minutes, plus songs. One of the tracks, Chord Sounds, is taken from his 2005 album Hotel Ambient. Also the other tracks are from older Moby albums/singles. So looks like he didn't really write much original stuff for this film...if anything at all.
Looks like there also exists a double CD (bootleg or promo?)) with 41 tracks of score and songs, with MANY of the tracks taken from Hotel.
I think I have a couple of tracks from this somewhere, on a compilation. Can't remember much, need to relisten.
Bizarre that Moby has always been interested in film music, but rarely done much original. Rather, his compositions have been used in films all over the place (assembled on that I LIKE TO SCORE album, for example -- which, of course, has little to do with actual scoring).
