I looked into your profile to see your tastes in Film Music and I've gotta ask..Is that you in the photo? After looking at peoples (yours, specifically), avatars for years, in one's mind's-eye, you kind of think of them actually being their avatars, though this is not logical. I realize it makes no sense, but over time, you kind of think of the person as their avatars; well, some of them.
I was looking into your musical tastes because of your vast knowledge of the songs in 'Easy Rider'. And, well, your photo sort of answered my question. wink

No, that's Peter Graves. My mug is no longer clean shaven and my hair isn't as long as Peter Graves' in that photo, but I do have a similar hair color. Thank you for your interest.

For anyone wondering...yes, it is true what you have long suspected: I am Casper Van Dien.

Really? Oh, I’m so sorry.

I was Casper van Dien once, Bill, but fortunately it passed.

Did you go in your garden and start shooting insects while grinning as though you were on a toothpaste commercial?!

One copes.

The doc says I'll grow out of it, but with each passing year I'm not so sure...

Thought you were crap in Starship Troopers.

Why do people keep opening with this in conversation? Seriously, I've been crap in more things than just Starship Troopers, y'know.

Did you go in your garden and start shooting insects while grinning as though you were on a toothpaste commercial?!

Yeah, did you put a pepso-dent in your backyard bug population?

Very good! Mind you, you weren’t the worst actor in Starship Troopers. Worst male actor, of course, but you were Klaus Maria Brandauer compared with poor Denise Richards.

I am greatly amused that anyone would think Jim's picture was actually him.

On the other hand, it makes me feel old that we are now in an age where people do not recognise Peter Graves as Jim Phelps.

Off the track a bit, - whatever track we have - but i saw a 1959 western last night with a very fresh-faced Captain Over as a cavalry officer tackling indians on the warpath.

Could've been jim in his early days?

Speaking of early days, yesterday I came across a very, very old FSM thread about relationships. TG's post about meeting his wife was particularly charming. And Jim posted too. Hopefully all these people are still in wedded bliss!

I knew the thread before I even clicked on it. Yes, still married to the same gal.

Of course I've changed psychiatrists six or seven times as a result of it, but yes, the same wife.

Sorry about the unseemly gushing, but nothing's changed except the passage of time. It was 30 years this past January since we met, and this July was our 27th wedding anniversary.

If I were able to post pictures here I could show you a "before and after 27 years of marriage" combo.

Some poignancy in that thread as well, in hindsight. RIP Christian.

Indeed. I remember contacting Urs Lesse and encouraging him to post the sad news; I'm sure others did, as well.

Shifting gears, I have been hitched 20 years as of this past May.

That is even funnier. big grin

The pic is of the late British actor Roger Lloyd-Pack. He became well known in the UK in the 1980s for his portrayal of simple Trigger in UK sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
