It doesn't start until, I think, May, but I can't wait! It's now my favorite TV show. I still hope for a Blu-ray release. Who else is looking forward to season 2?

Henry, my friend, you read my mind! Was just thinking of this show. I check semi-daily to see if a Blu-Ray for season 1 has been announced. Loved the show, loved the score, all of it! Can’t wait for May, didn’t know that was the possible Season 2 time frame! Strike first, strike hard, no mercy!

I wasn't aware that the second season was out. I'll set aside time for it as soon as possible. Yes, I like the show too, henry.

Haven’t watched season 2 yet, hoping for this weekend when personal stuff dies down a little...! But I did tease myself with the opening fight scene from the first episode...oh man! Can’t wait to rewatch season 1 and delve into and finish 2!!!

Just finished watching season 2.... doesn't have QUITE the same emotional heft to it.... and there is a lot of soap opera gunk to get through...it is, after all, the difficult second album... but where it hits it does it with class....and is never afraid to leave the past behind. Love the ending. Bring on Season 3!!! It can't come soon enough.

I'm only at episode 2 of season 2, so no spoilers, please. But I'd love for Hillary Swank to return at some point. Wouldn't be quite the reunion without her. She and Daniel could share war stories about training with Miyagi.

OK, finished it now.

It's a pretty good season, although I could have been without the ridiculous school fight as the climax. Talk about negligent teachers and school security!

Also, it appears that Elisabeth Shue might appear next season, judging by the last frame of the season. Then perhaps Hillary Swank isn't that farfetched after all?

I enjoyed this season as much as the first one, but I'm sort of hoping that they stop after Season 3. You don't want this to be one of those series that just goes on and on and becomes tired and predictable.

Agreed. Although I hope they get to feature both Shue and Swank in it first. They're kinda 'tentpoles' in the whole official film series.

If we get "Behaving Badly" Elizabeth Shue I'm all in.

Just finished watching Season 3. The seasons are getting weaker, but I sort of expected this. It's still enjoyable but the weaknesses from Season 2 are present, only magnified. Too much fan-service, too many flashbacks and the plot twists are more implausible (and more cartoonish) than before. I also think the attempt to elevate this material into quasi-epic Star Wars levels is somewhat misguided.

On the other hand, seeing Elizabeth Shue and the Japanese actors from the 2nd movie was great. But I do think they should stop after Season 4. It already feels like the material has been stretched to its limits.

I also just finished watching season 3. I LOVE all of the so-called "fan service" (from all 3 seasons). If only all fan service was like this!

I don't think any season is weaker than the others, but they all have things that I like and some things I find annoying. It's true that it's lost its freshness, so to speak, but then so does everything. I concede that there is a bit of repetitiveness going on, but even that is playing out in different ways.

I must point out that this series is a clearly a "dramedy". In some ways, it reminds me of the TV show "Soap", which was a parody/spoof of soap operas. Cobra Kai also seems to doing the same, and the over-the-top moments are meant to be OTT. Case in point, the finale of season 2. It was like a live action version of Family Guy's balls-to-the-wall fights with "the chicken".

Yet, it also has dramatic, heartfelt moments, much like Soap did, too. I still recall one episode of Soap in particular, that had a scene with Robert Guillaume and Katherine Helmond in a hospital, with Helmond's character apparently dying. Boy was that acting superb. I teared up.

Likewise,

SPOILERS:

In season 3, Kumiko's reading aloud of Miyagi's letters, gave me a lump in my throat.

Oh, and FWIW, I find that the actress that plays Kumiko looks better now than when she appeared in KK2. smile

Season 3 is by far my favorite, highly satisfying! I watched the whole season on Friday. It's my all time favorite tv show.
