Not to again distract too much from the new score, but just have to point out: Surely the Amityville ripoff in Goldenthal's score wasn't his idea but required by the filmmakers. Too often around here people seem to think that temp-track slavery is the composer's prerogative, but usually they're just hired hands doing as they're told. Given the rest of the exceptionally strong score, to me it sounds like Goldenthal just put in the theme as much as he had to and otherwise did his own work.

Yes, Chris wrote me about a release in April. Hope, it's still in the pipeline... Fingers crossed that there will be a CD in the near future.

Not only is there no CD of this score out, there is not even an uncompressed digital download version? They publish an LP but not even a lossless digital version? Saw the movie on Saturday and it's no masterpiece, that is for sure. Somewhat by the numbers and not all that involving, best thing about it was the cat (played by two excellently adopted shelter cats... yeah, from alley cat to horror movie star, that's the way to go!). Funny, because the best thing in the old adaptation was the cat (played by quite a few different cats) too. :-)
