Wow......A wonderful surprise. Looking forward to this one. Loved this score since watching the movie as a 9 year old on a wet afternoon whilst on holiday in Devon in late 50s.

Confession: When I saw that thread here last week asking if this exact recording was happening, my first instinct was to reply "Are you out of your minds? James has been very clear that he loses money on all of these, he had to turn to Kickstarter for 'King of Kings,' the chances of him secretly recording this very nice score for a very forgotten movie are pretty much nil." But I'm glad I didn't write that, because then I would look very foolish. Now, nobody has to ever know. Also, a little while after the King of Kings Kickstarter reached its goal, he brought up a few scores he would like to do before he retired and The Vikings was one of them, so he probably have done regardless of how much money he’d lose from it.

Fantastic news. Can't wait for this one. I bought the original soundtrack CD in London decades ago and was bummed by the (ripped off vinyl?) sub-par sound quality.

Also, a little while after the King of Kings Kickstarter reached its goal, he brought up a few scores he would like to do before he retired and The Vikings was one of them, so he probably have done regardless of how much money he’d lose from it. Well, he's also said that about several other scores such as Night of the Hunter and The War Lord and Jesus of Nazareth, but that doesn't mean they'll *necessarily* ever happen. I'd thought Luc and Prometheus were out of the new recording biz based on past comments from James, but I'm glad to see that's not the case! Yavar
