I just saw the film and I really liked this score; for me, possibly his best in years. Mix of original music and adaptations (the main title is a nice version of Streets of Laredo). The film is tonally all over the place. The first segment is one of the most consistently funny things the Coens have ever done, while the third is remarkably bleak.

This is probably the richest score I've ever heard in a Coen bros. film. Usually, Burwell writes a haunting/quirky theme for their films (Barton Fink, Fargo, A Serious Man, et al) which is then heard in variations throughout. With Buster, the music score is very strong, stirring and "old school" in a great way, especially in the Zoe Kazan and Tom Waits segments.

Saw this last night. Very impressed with the last two segments. Middle segment with Tom Waits is something of a visual tone poem, which accounts for the richness of Burwell's music there. Thumbs up. Four-out-of-five stars.

I also love this score (or, rather, all of them!) The Girl Who Got Rattled and Meal Ticket are tied as my favorite...the latter score is more minimal but it has a truly wonderful sad theme. After that, All Gold Canyon is a great canvas for Burwell to work in. The Mortal Remains is an amazing segment and perfect way to end the set of short films, but the score in it is a bit more minimal (though quite effective. Near Algodones and Buster Scruggs were good too, but I thought less of an opportunity for Burwell to shine (though the songs in the latter were fun). Yavar
