1. III - the first one I saw in the theater and it's a great, emotional journey. Mr. T is fabulous and in the best shape of his life.

2. The original: for all the usual reasons.

3. Rocky Balboa: what a fantastic return to the character and a very dignified coda to the character in his own series.

4. IV: it's a guilty pleasure. It has no real story and it's ridonkulous, but there's something about it.

5. II: it's actually kinda dull.

6. V: I don't hate it, but it is cringeworthy. The Subway to Heaven and Micky's visitation is just awful, but the "flashback" to Mick giving Rocky the glove cuff link (which was new to me...) was very touching.

Nailed it!

Rocky Balboa is the first Rocky film I saw, so that definitely holds a special place in my heart.

I would rate the other entries as follows:

Creed
Creed II
Rocky
Rocky III
Rocky IV
Rocky II
Rocky V

I know Rocky will always be mentioned as the masterpiece of them all so my opinion will be based on sentimental experience only. The one I watch the most is Rocky IV. It's 80's, it's the cold war, and yeah it's a bit silly but it's a exciting sequel and to be taken seriously is like viewing Rambo as a factual war drama. Rocky was a great story and the point was made so we all knew anything after that was going to be cartoonish. I enjoyed Creed. Better than Rocky Balboa and Rocky V. They could of skipped those two. I am excited to watch Creed 2 just because of the ties to IV.

That first film about 'Rocky' and the only one worth viewing is 'Somebody Up There Likes Me', from 1956. Paul Newman as Rocky Graziano, and directed by the great Robert Wise. Any other film that came after this time using the name of Rocky, was garbage. But, the garbage turned into a cash-cow-franchise and people have been paying money to see the latest 'installment' for decades, always expecting for a 'surprise ending'. It's not unlike those M. Night Shyamalan films that get worse and worse. In fact, I'm surprised M. Night Shyamalan hasn't attempted a Rocky film yet.

I've watched SUTLM few x, great movie, it did establish Newman as a big movie-star its a well complimented cast too better than Rocky, Raging Bull is also! But honestly you don't know what you're talking about Rocky is taken from Marciano's name who was an iconic heavy weight - it figures even more prominence than Graziano!

Script for I-II has great heart & emotion between trainer & boxer well-fiery! Mick classed Rock a bum a few times in I-II - love them digs really hard-ball. & Apollo chose Rocky Mick had too swallow his pride sucking-up its an ex scene my fav, "that's right it stinks" fights for I-II are realistic the rest are a padded joke a punch-bag with moving legs .

I am a child of the 80's so my order of placement is based on sentimental childhood memories and will overtake the quality of the franchise. The one I chose to watch the most is Rocky IV. It was the cold war, USSR was still a fearful threat and a lot of 1980s cheese. So with that:
1) Rocky IV
2) Rocky 3
3) Rocky
4) Rocky 2
5) Creed 2
6) Creed
7) Rocky Balboa
8) Rocky V (Absolute worst esp, when the final dramatic fight was a street match)

But I love the original Bill Conti score for Rocky the best over the synth of Rocky IV.
