I hate this phrase but... they don't make them like this anymore... Charlie Sheen fighting James Gandolfini; Nastassja Kinski appearing in mainstream commercial fare...

An expanded version of this score would be amazing. McNeely is a highly underrated composer. I wish he would get hired for a Star Wars Disney + series or a Marvel project. He would knock it out of the park.

As you probably know he is one of the composers working with the score(s) to the television series The Orville.

If TERMINAL VELOCITY is Hollywood Pictures...so to speak = Disney, wouldn't it be INTRADA territory?

That depends whether or not it's a title that Varese holds to rights to in perpetuity.

I dunno. I'd asked Intrada if they could get Terminal Velocity after they expanded Iron Will. I would think that if Varese didn't have it in Perp, Intrada would have done it by now. Intrada LOVES McNeely and have been an early supporter of his work. They even released his Squanto.

Either way, Disney has worked with Varese, so Maybe? What do I know.

Yeah and his contribution in season 3 has been the best yet IMHO. I hope Disney sees fit to get it out, if only a digital release. (You would need 5-6CDs worth of space for all the music recorded for this season. While it had it's initial run on HULU, McFarlane stated at the Comic-Con event that it would go be on Disney+ a week after the season finale on HULU.

After reading this thread and listening to that suite I picked up a copy at discogs and have been giving it several plays. This is some wonderful music by McNeely. The action cues are good but it’s the slower, edgier smoothness that I’m loving. There’s a couple of short passages here and there that remind me of something else I like as they sound identical, but I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe a few more spins will do it.

I saw the film at the cinema and really enjoyed it. The aerial stunt work during the climax is phenomenal and matches if not surpasses that in Octopussy and Living Daylights. I didn’t realise it was written and produced by David Twohy, he of the Pitch Black/Riddick films.

In fact I think I’ll buy the blu ray from Kino right now. I never bought the dvd, it’s worth adding to the collection and I’ll get to hear that unreleased music (in DTS-HD). And, yes, sign me up for an expanded edition.

I always thought it was a shame that McNeely did not get to the so called A list. There was this moment in his career where he got 3 potentially big budget films - The Avengers, Soldier and Virus. He turned in terrific scores for each but sadly each film flopped and were derided by critics. Sad.

I do enjoy the big orchestral Williams style music for Terminal Velocity. I re-watched this nonsense recently and to be fair the 30 min album has the highlights. There was a somewhat brief suspense sequence in the apartment but I don’t remember much more. I play Cadillac free fall quite often. I remember McNeely saying in interview he suffered a minor heart attack during this film scoring.
