MIB II is actually my favourite score in the series, just because Elfman lays the theme on thick after hardly using it in the original. Plus it has the awesome Worm Lounge source cues.

I also credit Barry Sonnenfeld for getting a full-on scrotum shot into a PG-13 film, and the BBFC for leaving it in and giving it a PG over here.

I enjoyed all three MiB films well enough, although the second was obviously the worst. I'm in for this one -- Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth are a great duo as Thor 3 revealed. smile

Nice to see the co-composer credit. Some of the other Elfman scores he's done additional composing work on I swear I can tell that there's less Elfman in a fair amount of the underscore. Which is fine, I dig it when he does a main titles and turns the rest over to someone else.

There's only so much you can tell from the cue sheets obviously, but it seems that Bacon probably deserved a co-composer credit for Goosebumps (and Buckley definitely for Fifty Shades Freed).

Incidentally, there was an interview with Elfman not too long ago were he mentioned that he kept being asked to be 'more Danny Elfman' on a recent film and that he struggled with that. He later commented that he 'knows' people can be 'more Danny Elfman' than he can now. Seems like that's what happened with Bacon and Goosebumps -he has a credit on around half the cues (the major cues and themes are Elfman tbf).

Makes sense. He continues to evolve his style, and it's got to be frustrating being asked to sound like he did 30 years ago.

I' have dumped a Fifty Shades film on somebody else, too. That also makes sense.

I think it's fantastic that Chris Bacon has landed a big project like this. I thought he was going on to do big things after 2011's 'Source Code', but he's only really landed mainly TV work since then. I loved his work on 'Bates Motel'!

Also great to see Elfman back to reprise his great main title music!

When We Rise also credited Bacon alongside Elfman in the recent past.

He's been quite fortunate, in the industry, to have gotten his early breaks and tutelage under James Newton Howard and is now getting some thrust alongside Danny Elfman.
He's a great composer in his own right.

Listening to the album this morning and at the risk of surrendering any credibility as an Elfman fan, it’s quite clear who what wrote here.

Compare Elfman cues “Logos” or “L Train” with what is presumably Bacon’s “Seeing is Believing” and “Too Much” and you’ll hear the difference. There’s a lilting woodwind that threads through Bacon’s material that sort of sounds more John Powell than Danny Elfman.

Anyways, hard not to smile when you hear the first track on the album.

this hasn't quite caught my ears yet, but it did blast me back to my 90 min compilation created around the time MIB 3 came out. some really fun stuff when you put it all together: the wild fun of "D's Memories / Chase" and "Out on a Limb / Time Jump", the heartachey lushness of "Under the Bridge" and "Griffin Steps Up", and of course the manic energy and schizophrenic sound world of the indelible original main title...

You people keep saying this is the movie that "no one wants"...just because YOU don't want it, doesn't mean other people have to go along with your narrow minded view. It looks entertaining, and I will be seeing it!

THIS!

My wife and I are looking forward to this. Hemsworth is f'n comedy gold.

My wife and I are looking forward to this. Hemsworth is f'n comedy gold.

He and Kate McKinnon (and Leslie Jones, albeit to a lesser degree) had so much fun with their material that IMO they carried the recent Ghostbusters reboot on their shoulders, through a lot of lame and stupid stuff (and a couple of totally boring main characters).
