I think this one 2018. Of course I had great christmas as a child, but not much memories left of. Only remember, when I grew up, 18 and older, the feeling for christmas changed.
This christmas was really great again. I' m member of a little german weaving forum, which lost its platform ' bout one year ago and luckily became part of a bigger creative forum. Real nice bunch of folks there. This christmas the leader had the idea of " wichteln " , I think in english called " secret Santa " . 14 members of us took part of it and we all had a lot of fun and a great time before christmas. Of course we weren' t aloud to open the secret package before christmas eve and that was real hard for all of us. 
Best of it was, we 13 decided to surprise our leader with a " extra- wichtel " , so that she too, had to guess by whom her packages was.
We laughed our ass of, every day she was writing, " Are you crazy, lots of packages with my name on it arrived. "
I got a real nice gift. Since I' m the only fellow there and didn' t want to get ladies stuff, I wrote a letter to my Wichtel, with what I like/ need and not.
I was so lucky, I got, what was on top of my list.
I don' t know, how to call this in english, perhaps legwarmers, they' re to protect my pants from dirt, when I' m in the woods with my dog Jacy.
I' m wool crazy and they' re real shetlandwool.
Then I got another great gift more. A friend of my mom is a real knitting junkie and made this awful sweater for me. The wool turned out to not good work for weaving, so she crocheted me that sweater.
It' s real islandic wool and totally warm, so winter can come.

... and another great gift is still on its way to me.
Comes from the states and didnt' t make it right on time to christmas,
but hopefully will arrive in couple of days.
... but only to know, it' s on its way to me, is great christmas ever.

I thought you were going to say " the year the temperature rose to only ten below zero ".

I didn't have Christmases as a child, because my family was (and still is) in the Jehovah's Witness cult. Luckily, I broke free, and have been enjoying the holiday more and more each year.
My best Christmas present, bar none, was also one of the least expensive ones I ever received. Sometime during the summer, my husband was at an estate sale while I was at work. He bought three paper cartons full of science fiction paperbacks, at a dollar apiece. He hid them at a friends house, and wrapped them up and put them beside the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.
It was amazing. Of course, I had read quite a few of the books, but it took me literally years to read all of the ones I hadn't. Best gift ever.
