Goldsmith was once (probably more than once) asked what movie would he have liked to score....without hesitation he said Schindler's List. I view parts of QBV11 as Goldsmith's take on that film. Besides, the Tadlow's recording is a real eye opener(ear opener). It's a magnificent work that truly earned the Emmy Award it received. Any and all Goldsmith fans should have this one in their collection. You will not be sorry for purchasing it.

I think that's where the disconnect has been. Yes, it's passion. I don't think anybody ever thinks recording scores from largely forgotten films (and that applies to almost every score that James has recorded, with the exceptions of "Lawrence of Arabia" and to some extent "Ben-Hur") is a great way to make money. The idea is to do something he loves (or Luc loves) and hope to make it financially viable, even a little.
Forgive me for being OT, but I keep hearing so many mixed reviews of the Salamander as a score (i.e. "importance of", etc.) that I'm now making buying it a mandate lol.

I had never heard that anecdote about Goldsmith and Schindler's List which happens to be my favorite score among all. The Tadlow release of QBV11 is indeed magnificent and I have never regretted the purchase for a second. Thank you for sharing this info paul.
