MINUSCULE: MANDIBLES FROM FAR AWAY
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed, Orchestrated and Conducted by Mathieu Lamboley

Ref: MBR-154
Release Date: January 28, 2019

In collaboration with Futurikon Films, Music Box Records proudly presents on CD the original motion picture soundtrack of the animated film Minuscule: Mandibles from Far Away (2019) composed, orchestrated and conducted by Mathieu Lamboley (Return of the Hero, Boule & Bill 2).

Minuscule: Mandibles from Far Away (in French theaters in January 30, 2019), co-written and directed by Hélène Giraud and Thomas Szabo, shares the same creative universe as the successful Minuscule series created in 2006. The first feature film titled Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants (2014) was a huge hit in France and won the France's César Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 40th César Awards.

In the conditioning unit of a small chestnut can factory in a quiet little country village as winter slowly settles, a young ladybug gets trapped by accident in a cardboard box shipped to the Caribbean. His father sets off for Guadeloupe to rescue him and save others from a human construction site.

Mathieu Lamboley provides an exciting and lyrical orchestral score with choir, displaying a wide array of wondrous melodic themes. There are echoes of classical music (Ravel, Prokofiev) and contemporary film music writing (John Williams, Michael Giacchino), handled by the composer in his own personal orchestral style.

The stirring and lavish orchestral score has been recorded by the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France and the Children Choir of Francis Bardot conducted by Mathieu Lamboley.

Did Lamboley also score the first film?

Update: Just checked... the previous film was scored by Hervé Lavandier.

Wow - a very pretty, symphonic animation score. I've never heard of this composer, but I'm very impressed and will be looking for his other scores. I encourage everybody to check out the samples. Kudos to Music Box Records - a wonderful label.

This indeed sounds like a another very interesting release to look forward to. I have seen some fragments of that previous Minuscule film, very funny stuff. I can understand why it was a huge success in France.

This will arrive shortly. I can't wait to hear the full score. Thanks for posting that making of. I thought the use of the Theremin hilarious. I think (and hope) we will hear a lot more of Mathieu Lamboley in the future. Excellent stuff!

This score is very, very enjoyable. Beautiful and often exciting music, presented in terrific sound. I'll need to find out more about this composer. Very impressive. Really.
Unfortunately there are no notes provided with the CD, which is the only let-down of this release.

Agreed 100 %! Beautiful score and rich in themes. Fans of good orchestral film music should pick this one up. This guy has the chops and he's still only 39 years old. He has another film coming out this year, the drama 'Sisters in Arms'.
