An official complete release would sure be nice (despite any performance flaws, which after all might be fixable a la Superman IV with multiple takes). But according to Amazon this is just a single disc...hopefully it'll still be expanded to a full 78 minute program or so... Yavar

Doubt this will be any different than the last version... deserves to be in print for those who've missed that. For the rest, nothing. Good thing that the last one survived my recent burglary, then. Outstanding score. The show wasn't bad at all either imo.

The show has some weaknesses but at least three great strengths (Duvall, Jones, and Lane...also enjoyed Chris Cooper) besides Basil’s amazing score. Yavar

If this is the same program as the previous release – and I suspect it will be, given Poledouris's adamance about it when he was alive – it's a great program that deserves to be in print. I listened to it recently, and there's really something to be said for a good old-fashioned listening experience without any fat, repetition, or tiresome passages. This one is a winner all the way through. I'm completely with you. Every time I break that one out I'm left happy and satisfied. Maybe not the level of a Lonely are the Brave, but darn great nonetheless (sorry to keep inserting JG, been on a major role with him).

Yavar No, it's the expanded program with a bonus track of a new song based on his theme written and performed by his Daughter Zoe and her husband. Basil worked very hard on the original program and I went t through it with him nearly 20 years ago when SONIC IMAGES reissued it. The Family and the folks at VARESE agreed that we should honor his wishes and keep it the way he had approved it. Ford A. Thaxton

Did he approve the master with the song Zoe and her husband just wrote added onto it? Curious to hear the song, though!

Did he approve the master with the song Zoe and her husband just wrote added onto it? Curious to hear the song, though! That was approved by the rest of the family including her Mom.... Basil always wanted to put lyrics to some of his tunes and he trusted his Daughter. It's a really nice song. I hope you enjoy it. Ford A. Thaxton
