He produced a lot of iconic 80's & 90's action films, which were a staple of my younger years. And the scores were among my favorites, also. I'm sorry to hear of this. Of course it's worthy of a thread, thank you. And I'm sorry for your loss.

It may not worth a topic for you guys, but I am from Hungary, I work at the Hungarian National Film Fund, so Andy was my boss and as a film-, and filmscore-enthusiastic I must open a topic for his pass. I grew up on his movies, Rambos, Total Recall, Red Heat etc... So I hope you don't mind this small commemoration from me. Thanks, Chris Chris, my condolences. Please tell us more about Andy when you have the time – he was a legend.

Please tell us more about Andy when you have the time – he was a legend. Unfortunatelly I don't have any stories about him, I didn't know him personally, only saw him sometimes at my job. The only thing I know is that what he did to resurrect the national film industry is absolutely unique. He invented the script developing-department at the Film Fund, and in the seven years when the Fund was run by him, Hungary won more than 130 awards, including two Oscars (Son of Saul and Sing) a Golden Bear for On Body and Soul and many others. I must say, his judgement in Hungary is very divisive, thanks to his friendship with our Prime Minister, but what everyone respects is that he professionally unassailable. So we face the future without everyone's "Andy"....

My favourite scores from Vajna's productions: Nick Glennie-Smith - CHILDREN OF GLORY Hans Zimmer - RENAISSANCE MAN

When Bobby Roth directed AMANDA in 1996, he had to fight to get Basil Poledouris to score the movie, because producer Vajna wanted to use a friend to score the film (I don't know who). In the end Vajna agreed, and he was pleased with the score.
