So one of the odder film music stories of last year was Thomas Newman hiding behind the pseudonym David Wilder Savage for Steven Soderbergh's film "Unsane." I assumed Newman wasn't happy with how the score turned out, or was spotted, or something, and chose to remain anonymous.
Well I just saw that Soderbergh has a new film, "High Flying Bird," that's going to premiere on Netflix next month. And the fictional Mr. Savage has also scored that one!
This is a perfect opportunity for when Shyamalan makes his next mediocre or worse film to trade out what's his name for David Wilder Savage as composer. just sayin'.
Maybe it's his preferred pseudonym for movies shot on an iPhone 7?
Also which story is that name from? THE BEST OF EVERYTHING? I know that Alfred Newman scored the 1959 movie of it... I wonder if it has any significance for Thomas?

Unsane!
Bless ya Schiffy! I just watched Unsane last week and as a Newman fanatic, thought it was hooey, this pseudonym business. Happily (?) the score is nothing special and some oddball group was credited with performing. Would love to hear the rest of the story!
