I've made it pretty clear that I'm a huge Rahman fan, and has been so for almost 20 years. While perusing his Spotify profile to see if there were any 2018 scores worth checking out for nomination purposes, I discovered -- to my delight -- that the score for the massive 2010 sci fi extravaganza ENTHIRAN was released this year, probably to coincide with the release of its sequel, 2.0! Not just the song album, but the actual score (which is rare for Indian films). And what a score it is -- powerful, massive, orchestral, adventurous, just stupendous all around. I'm not usually into this thing so much anymore, but this was on a whole other level; kinda retro 90s and will no doubt appeal to a lot of the FSM crowd. I knew Rahman could write in this idiom, but quite on this level. So check it out if you get the chance! https://open.spotify.com/album/3bxnbterkUaeYkhTUEKBZP?si=0NH-U0BOSpe4yJ9EAlFjkw

It is indeed an amazing score full of rich themes and genuine emotion. Means a lot to me on a personal level, because it helped me rediscover my love for orchestral scores back in 2010 when I was somehow getting distracted. This release was like a dream come true. I couldn't believe that I was hearing "Chitti To The Rescue" in such pristine quality after sticking to DVD rips all these years. And "Power Hungry Robots" with the bass trombone going ballistic gets a lot of plays from me too. I just wish they had not removed the choir from a couple of cues. For those interested, its available as a lossless download at Qobuz and Tidal too.

The score of 2.0 is now available to listen on Youtube and purchase on some online stores (including Google Play), if anyone's interested - https://youtu.be/KH9_XiWauz4
