Just ordered "The Cardinal" and "A Man Called Peter". Thank you for these great releases!

I received a "shipped" notice from SAE. My copy should arrive with 10 days or so, maybe sooner. I'm looking forward to hearing the improved sound, plus the bonus track.

Very nice. Much better sound... though it's a pity it still starts off with those distorted church bells overlaid onto the start of the Main Title music. Hmmm... When I get my copy, I might be able to edit together the clean opening of "The Cardinal Themes" (which is the Overture on the DVD) with the rest of the Main Title. And there's also the Entr'acte from the DVD which I could add as a bonus track. I'm glad to hear the sound is truly magnificent. Based on the remastered quality of Kritzerland's Taras Bulba, David and Bathsheba, & Demetrius and the Gladiators CDs, I didn't think that it could be anything else but a super upgrade.

Had they had ALL the three-track tapes we could have done one with and one without, but alas... But the only three-track tapes were for the source music and not even all of it - but we were able to do the Morse song and, I think, half of the tango cue, and, of course, the bonus track, which I love - when I heard them after James finished with them, I said to him, "It's tragic we don't have it all like that."

What a great score, and it's never sounded so good (the bells business in the Main Title notwithstanding ). I'm wearing out the laser grooves on this thing, and particularly can't get "The Cardinal in Vienna" out of my head. They truly don't make 'em like this anymore. I've always loved THE BIG COUNTRY but I'm beginning to consider the possibility that THE CARDINAL was in fact Moross's magnum opus. More, please!

Zooba, old chap, you forgot to mention the Saul Bass-designed titles sequence!
