Has anyone in California received THE CARDINAL CD from Kritzerland by USPS yet ?

Mine arrived about 11:30 a.m. today. I'm roughly 120 miles north of Los Angeles.

Thanks. Being further up north, I will be patient.

Patience paid off today. What a magnificent score !

I received a "shipped" notice from SAE. My copy should arrive with 10 days or so, maybe sooner.
I'm looking forward to hearing the improved sound, plus the bonus track.

Got mine Friday. This version leaves the awful sounding preamble issue in the dust. Almost sounds like a new recording.

Same here, and I couldn't agree with you more as regards the improvement of the sound quality. It perhaps goes without saying that the new release also improves tremendously on the Spanish RCA release. Hopefully Sony, which controls the RCA catalog, will (before it is too late) loosen up on its no-more-licensing decision and let Bruce and company continue their great work on classic RCA film score titles, such as they've done on the likes of SUMMER AND SMOKE, ADVISE AND CONSENT, THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG and now THE CARDINAL. First class efforts all!

Very nice. Much better sound... though it's a pity it still starts off with those distorted church bells overlaid onto the start of the Main Title music.

Got mine Saturday. I've played it twice. Phenomenal sound. Like joec said: almost sounds like a new recording.

Hmmm... When I get my copy, I might be able to edit together the clean opening of "The Cardinal Themes" (which is the Overture on the DVD) with the rest of the Main Title. And there's also the Entr'acte from the DVD which I could add as a bonus track.

I'm glad to hear the sound is truly magnificent. Based on the remastered quality of Kritzerland's Taras Bulba, David and Bathsheba, & Demetrius and the Gladiators CDs, I didn't think that it could be anything else but a super upgrade.

Yes, sadly nothing to be done about that. Had they had ALL the three-track tapes we could have done one with and one without, but alas...

But the only three-track tapes were for the source music and not even all of it - but we were able to do the Morse song and, I think, half of the tango cue, and, of course, the bonus track, which I love - when I heard them after James finished with them, I said to him, "It's tragic we don't have it all like that."

What a great score, and it's never sounded so good (the bells business in the Main Title notwithstanding ). I'm wearing out the laser grooves on this thing, and particularly can't get "The Cardinal in Vienna" out of my head. They truly don't make 'em like this anymore. I've always loved THE BIG COUNTRY but I'm beginning to consider the possibility that THE CARDINAL was in fact Moross's magnum opus. More, please!

I got mine along with the Alex North release and I am really digging this as I go through more listens. I had to remove the chant tracks and the song from my playlist but I am still left with a delightful playlist. And the sound is mostly clear and crisp. The violin tones are especially lovely. So glad I picked this up.

Just watched the DVD of the Movie THE CARDINAL last night. I had watched it some years back and really enjoyed the picture. Moross' score fits it beautifully! So happy for the Kritzerland Release of the Soundtrack CD which I purchased with joy. Thanks Bruce!

Also after watching the DVD, I enjoyed the Bonus Documentary on Otto Preminger. Great documentary hosted by Burgess Meredith who appeared in many Preminger films.

Great stuff!

Tom Tryon who starred as THE CARDINAL of course went on to a writing career and is probably best known for writing THE OTHER which became a great movie with a great Jerry Goldsmith score!

So sad in the documentary the accounts of Preminger treating him horribly and ripping him to shreds during the making of THE CARDINAL. Others will say that Preminger just knew how to get what he wanted and needed from an actor, but Tryon's own account seems to tell that Preminger was unheedingly brutal with him. I enjoyed THE CARDINAL very much as a film and great complimented by all the acting, Leon Shamroy's epic cinematography and the wonderful Jerome Moross score!

Definitely give Bruce K. the business and order THE CARDINAL CD from Kritzerland! It's Awesome!

Zooba, old chap, you forgot to mention the Saul Bass-designed titles sequence!

Zooba, old chap, you forgot to mention the Saul Bass-designed titles sequence!

Yes, that sequence was wonderful! Bass and Preminger went together like Peanut Butter and Chocolate! PERFECT!

That was also scary where the actress in ST. JOAN was really chained to the stake and the mishap with the fire. Horrifying footage as the blast of flames hit her in the face during shooting.

How could something like that happen? Where were all the safety measures? That really could have been a horrible tragedy. Otto was lucky, I guess. If it had gone really bad and the actress was killed, his career could have been over.

If this is Jean Seberg she had enough problems as is...
