I just saw first episode of this series and there is interesting orchestral & jazzy score by David Lang. Opening of episode with prominent rhythmic strings and percussion almost like western theme was amazing. Would be great to have soundtrack CD for this.
I agree that there are some moments where he doesn't go the 8th-generation Zimmer with the music, but when he goes into the Zimmer mode, it's completely wrong for the series.

Also saw second episode and I didn´t heard anything like music in "Zimmer mode". Contrary I heard quite complex strings writing during museum chase scene and also no electronics used so far in score.

It's in the Zimmer-lite vein. I'm thinking of the scene with the cops stopping the girl and her boyfriend in particular, though maybe even the scene you mentioned. I don't want everything to be period-specific or anything, but the cue on the street was just too modern to me.
