Apologize if this has been asked before ( I could not find a thread).

Has there ever been a CD issue of the Columbia/MAsterworks LP of this score?

If not, is there enough interest for a FSM release?

Le Mans was issued on CD by Universal France a few years ago. FSM no longer issues soundtracks.

The original U.S. Columbia LP ran 29:47. The LP had only 6 tracks, which included two songs running 4:15, leaving 25:32 for the remaining 4 score tracks. But 2 of those 4 tracks include either some race announcer talk or actor dialogue on them.

When Universal/France released their CD in 2007, a number of the tracks that were aggregated on the LP were separated for the CD, and additional tracks were added. The CD had 12 tracks running 37:24. The two songs on this release ran 4:57, leaving 32:27 of score--about 7 minutes more score than was on the LP. In addition, all of the dialogue was omitted from this release.

In 2015, Varese Sarabande released Jim Copperthwaite's score to the documentary STEVE McQUEEN: THE MAN & LE MANS. Tacked on to the end of that soundtrack were 4 instrumental tracks from Legrand's LE MANS score, which run 23:40. Varese has removed the dialogue that appeared on the LP score tracks, accounting for the 2 minute shorter running time.
