Shame our own Reed Birney - who won a Tony Award for the role - apparently won't be in the movie.

Not only does "Victory" (or "V for Victory" or "Escape to Victory") not need to be remade, they'll never top the Bill Conti score.

I've got an idea: remake something that was BAD to begin with if you Hollydouchebagwoods can't come up with new ideas.

A good Dungeons & Dragons movie? Yes, absolutely.

The original ESCAPE TO VICTORY also had the Norwegian footballer Hallvar Thoresen, incidentally. He was quite big at the time, and still considered one of our alltime greats, but still bizarre to see him in a big Hollywood film.

Would be interesting to see which players they choose for this, if any. It would be amazing to get Zidane in it, who I consider the greatest of all time. But we also now have a few footballers-turned-actors, like Vinny Jones and Eric Cantona. They'd no doubt want a role in it.

I'm with everyone else (maybe the whole world), remake Escape To Victory!! Why?? But I suppose if you're going to remake a film, it should be a film that doesn't work rather than on that does.

One of the many bonkers things about Escape is when they want to get Sly into the team as a goalie, the prisoner who plays in that position has to go, now he could say that he's pulled a muscle, or he could stage a fistfight with the manager, or so many other things, but no...he agrees to have his arm broken in the most vicious way, maimed for life I'd think.

If it ain't broke don't fix it...Instead of remaking Escape to Victory...they should reissue this in theatres as it's a good
motivational movie!

Will this new version explain how and why the POWs have a chance to escape but stay to finish the game instead (cf. Leonard Maltin's review)?

Thats because with Bobby Moore in the team and the might of america in goal, they knew they could go back, beat the germans even with a dodgy ref and still escape at the end!!!

The manager of real madrid is not gonna take a job in a film Thor - it will more likely be ex fat players no longer involved with clubs.

I'm sure the agents of knobs like Robbie Savage and the like are making enquiries right now.
They should tweak the ending of the (proposed) new version so that the game goes to penalties!!
Sudden Death!! Against The Germans!!!
We all know how that ends (worse than Se7en)

I know. But it would be a dream. I want to see if Zidane still has the moves (preferably without film tricks, though).

Yes more likely Jermaine Jenas, Andy Cole, Paul ince and Ji Sung Park as an accurate representation of prewar english footballers from Bolton wanderers and Blackpool. All wearing long shorts and Doc martens to make it authentic.
