JAMES BOND---a British tabloid claims James Bond will drive an Aston Martin all-electric Rapide E instead of the traditional DB series car in the 25th James Bond movie as ordered by environmentally-concerned director Cary Fukunaga.

Oh brother....

This is going to be the first Bond movie I will not bother to see in the theater.

Next they will replace the gun in favor of a taser. James Bond will have "a license to stun".

I don't understand why this is a problem. Bond films have always been about using technology ranging from cutting edge to science fiction. Electric cars have become more popular, so why not give them the Bond twist? I highly doubt the film will make any real political statements. The films have mostly played it safe and been apolitical apart from a joke here and there.

The Aston Martin Rapide E won't be mistaken for a Toyota Prius.

"ordered by environmentally-concerned director Cary Fukunaga".

Many of us are tired of in your face political messaging in films. I fine with the electric car, just don't make an issue out of it. It's frustrating because I believe it turns people off to the right things for the wrong reasons. The ham-handedness is actually curtailing progress.

The decision regarding which car to use as the Bond car is not made in a vacuum. They are pretty much all glorified product placements. The BMW in Tomorrow Never Dies, for example, was picked because the BMW used in Goldeneye increased sales and BMW wanted to increase sales on a more expensive car. Is it really so much worse that environmental concerns played into the director's decision rather than a car company deciding which car is used based on how much profits they project? Plus, there is a difference between behind the scenes motivation and portrayal on screen. I doubt there will be much of a political message, if any, when it is introduced.

Well, yes, one is a political/radical agenda, the other is just glorified garbage advertisement.

Personally, I think Bond should drive a vehicle that blends into the other vehicles of where he is and not stick out like a big expensive sore thumb.

Finally a voice of reason!

  • DOCTOR DOOM---writer Noah Hawley, who had been writing the long-gestating DOCTOR DOOM script, said he recently talked with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who asked Hawley, "Are you still working on it?" Hawley replied, "Should I still be working on it?"

Hollywood: Knowing what the hell it's doing since 1975!

  • They are still making AVENGERS movies?!!!

Water is still wet?? The nerve of an element!

  • DOCTOR STRANGE---director Scott Derrickson tweeted a now-deleted graphic of Doctor Strange being attacked by Namor the Submariner with the caption, "Are you experienced?" which led to speculation that Namor will be in the sequel.

I would've preferred it if Namor was an Avengers villain...

Avengers Exiled: When the Earth Itself Rejects Its Saviors...

  • Many of us are tired of in your face political messaging in films. I fine with the electric car, just don't make an issue out of it.

Therefore, if they hid the electric product placement in the form of a tank, or if you never bothered to look up behind-the-scenes information at all, this wouldn't bother you?

Object permanence has now become a myth.

Product placement has been a part of the 007 films since the beginning. Man, Kentucky Fried Chicken is all over "Goldfinger."

I don't care what car he drives and why. I just want a damned Bond movie already. This is becoming the longest gap since the wait for GoldenEye.

In related news, Barbara Broccoli wonders why Mission: Impossible has left Bond in the dust.

Can Bond just get back to being Bond, please? Hurry up and "Old Yeller" Daniel Craig so that we can mercifully get a reset.

Well, there's that. My psyche would be happier if I had known that Bob Clark only directed A Christmas Story and then retired a legend. embarrassment

What would that be like, exactly, in this day and age? I'm sincerely asking.
