What a delightful score this is! I hadn't taken it off the shelf for so long and pulled it out this morning for a listen. I enjoyed it so much that I listened to both versions I have - the BYU release and the Intrada release. I think the movie is now on my list for another view. It made my day so much sunnier.

Howard, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your past ruminations. It made my evening. Reading your progression from ordering the cd in November, 2013 to listening to it and sharing your thoughts in February, 2015 and finally to your sharing of fond memories after re-watching the film in April, 2015. The only rumination I am still waiting for is your follow-up to your 4/10/15 comment "I am finally going to read the CD booklet and confirm or correct any other impressions."

I also want to thank you for pointing me in the direction of this particular thread. I enjoyed reading Ray's comments along with those of Ron Hardcastle. Now I recall how exuberant Ron could get when he enjoyed a score. This may actually be one of my favorite threads on this board - it was delightful and so positive about a delightful film and delightful score.

Thanks Howard! btw, do you really have "an ultra-orthodox reputation to keep?" smile

Hey, back-atcha, ezm. Many thanks for your kind words. It is a fun thread, lots of celebration and good cheer. Oy, now 4 years later on top of it all and I fear the better days are behind me re confirming the rest. smile And as for the "ultra-orthodox" business, listening to the soundtrack before seeing the film has a cousin in watching a film before reading the book. Yeesh guess I've mellowed in my increasingly approaching senior citizen status--but just a tad!--and don't...tell...anyone...especially...Thor eek

I hear you Howard. Senior days (not daze yet) surround me as well. I too have done the book before film routine as well but I cheat more often these days. Sometimes seeing the film first allows me to enjoy it again while reading the book. My best example of that is Benchley's "The Deep." Though certainly not a novel lacking mental imagery as you read, seeing the film first enhanced it.
