Hi all

I have commented on this issue in the opened thread about this release, but maybe more people will read it if I open a dedicated thread. Please, if the moderators consider that it should be deleted, go ahead.

CD HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER published by INTRADA in 2012.

I bought this CD in October 2012 directly through the INTRADA store and I've been enjoying it enormously with regular listening since then. But to my surprise, a few days ago, I put the CD in my OPPO UDP-203 player and during the whole album there are clicks and pops, making it impossible to hear the music. I automatically tried other CDs and the problem does not seem to be from the player, so I tried the cd on 2 other players and got the same result (one of them did not even recognize the disc)

Member Last Child gave me some feedback in the opened thread about this release (thanks again, Last Child):

"And the bottom of the disc looks fine?
I bought/resold this disc at the time, but last year decided to re-buy it (a used copy since it's oop). The first copy had two tiny deformations in the silver (bottom side), as if a pin was pressing into the silver from the top. I returned it, and bought another copy which also had a tiny deformation. It could be a general problem with that production, and eventually cause playback issues. That said, they both played fine, and copied fine in a computer. Intrada said they werent aware of this defect or any playback problems, but they probably arent keeping track unless there's an avalanche of complaints."

My answer was:

"Hi, Lastchild. Thanks a lot for your comments. I cant find any deformation (at least Im not able to see it). Today I have uploaded the disc to my ITunes library and the same clicks and pops occur. I understand you still have the disc and it works fine?"

Last Child answered:

"As of a few months ago, the 2nd copy was still playing fine. You can't always see defects straight on. I check for scratches when I buy used copies by holding the disc at an angle under a lamp or near window light."

I did it and I really can´t find any visual defects. So, I prefer to ask you all before contacting INTRADA to find out if anyone owns this soundtrack as well and has experienced the same problem and discover if it is a problem of my disk or perhaps a manufacture issue.

Thank you

I would contact Intrada regardless of responses here. As I said before, they werent aware of any issues when I contacted them last year. As it's sold out, they didn't offer me a replacement, but they should still be made aware of any problems.

OK, I understand what you mean, I will do it. Let´s see what they think about it. Nevertheless, it would be nice if other members of this forum check their copies to see if they have the same issues as me.

Thanks again, Last Child!

After contacting Jeff at INTRADA, today I have just received a replacement disc that works smoothly. Delighted with the service offered by INTRADA, I wanted to share my positive experience with you all.

That's great, but also disappointing since I contacted them last year about the defective-looking CD I bought used, and they said there were no spare copies for replacement or sale. Not sure why the discrepancy in customer service.

Sometimes super audio CD players or the high end ones play some CD's with static and other noises. Often the EMI "copy protect" did this. The easiest solution found was make a copy in computer, the copy will usually play fine.

Clint, if you ended up with two copies of inserts and don't need the extra set, would you consider giving them away? The 2nd used copy I bought (also with visual defect in silver, but I can only spend so much on overpriced, used defective cds - thanks, Intrada mad ) had torn back insert.

Last Child, INTRADA sent me the cd alone, sorry, no inserts.
