My doctor of 25 years, who I loved, retired early a few years ago, mostly to get away from this mess:

I've never had a single doctor. In the UK you go to your medical centre that you're signed up to & hardly ever see the same doctor twice (I suppose in some centres you do), but I've been very lucky with my health & haven't had to see a doctor that many times. Mind you, I was very ill over Christmas & January with this really awful cold (along with half the UK population it seems) & went three times & saw the same doctor each time. I did have my yearly check-up with my diabetic nurse the other week & she told me that I don't have type 2 diabetes anymore (I was diagnosed about eight years ago), ah, the healing powers of dark chocolate & bourbon smile

Software. Medicine, aviation...would appear there are deadly drawbacks to techno dependency.

I've just remembered something. Back in the seventies my sister & brother-in-law were going abroad to work (my brother-in-law worked for British Airways), they asked if they could have their medical records, & the doctor said no way, they don't release medical records, they could get lost. Anyway, they were abroad for quite a few years & when they came back & signed on to another doctors & that medical practice tried to get their records, they found out that they'd been destroyed, as they only keep them for so long!

Paper or electronic there's always gonna be human errors that leads to injury or death.

Medical offices are storing your records digitally now. That's the real concern. While we have very strict privacy laws regarding our medical history, the future will see mass hacking of private medical records which will eventually be made public.

As for myself, my primary doctor closed his office without telling me late last year. I cannot reach them and it appears my entire medical history is lost in a dumpster somewhere.

I last took an aspirin in 2006. I do not engage with the medical complex/community. I do, however, get my teeth cleaned three times a year!
