For all you people who complain about expansions and reissues dominating the market...

Quartet has put out a fantastic premiere twofer with a George Duning score and a Lyn Murray score!

Is anyone surprised that the wonderful producer of this twofer is none other than Lukas Kendall?

I'm not familiar with either score, but based on the samples*, this is something I'll be getting for sure one day (mostly for the Duning effort).

* = I wish Quartet had a volume control. It's so frustratingly louder than the radio program I am listening to at the same time.

Those samples sound terrific. Great release!

Great news in the abstract, but I wonder if these are on many fans Wish list. Maybe I'm just prejudicial since I don't collect "rom-com" soundtrack music.

I also am less likely to purchase soundtracks from comedies as well as sci-fi, horror and small orchestral scores from TV shows.

You guys should still try the sound clips. Cody, these are *premiere* releases by Golden Age composers Duning and Murray -- this is exactly the kind of release you're always calling for from Kritzerland and such. You in particular should really consider supporting this release.

No, I confess these weren't on my wish list. I've never even *heard* of them. But I *have* heard of George Duning, one of my favorite Golden Age composers (The Devil at 4 O'Clock, The Wreck of the Mary Deare, 3:10 to Yuma, Picnic, Cowboy, and of course a bunch of the best Star Trek scores!) And I've also heard of Lyn Murray (On the Threshold of Space, The Bridges of Toko-Ri, and Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief -- thanks for those, Intrada!)

I'm getting this just based on the composers. I know I'll find plenty to like.

Of course I played the sound samples, and I know who the composers are. The music is true to the genre which is not my taste. I was asking if these titles (because of the genre) were really filling a need in anyone's heart rather than composer-completests or label-supporters.

Lukas Kendall? I thought he had retired to Hawaii and drank coconut drinks on the beach all day long?

I understand what you are telling me, Yavar. I am not angry by what you wrote. Yes, it is from the era that interests me most. I have listened to the samples. They are good. The important thing that I must consider is how often will I want to give the CD a spin. I am on a pension. My wife who is a lot younger than myself is still working and that helps me with my soundtrack and old film hobby. I have to be selective in what grabs my desire to purchase. Kritzerland's proposed Fox-box is something that really grabs me. I so want it to be a success for Bruce that I will purchase more than one eventhough one is all I need.

Outstanding release! I often avoid comedy scores, but not when Duning is involved. I like his light and breezy approach that suggests wit, rather than slapstick. I also enjoy Lyn Murray's work.
Purchased immediately... though I'll add that SAE's shipping price of $6.40 for this single comedy CD score to a US address is no laughing matter.

Looks like a fine release and I'll be ordering it. With George Duning and Lynn Murray as composers it should be delightful. Well done Lukas and Quartet.

I did this some time ago for Quartet, from some requests he had of the Paramount library. I am glad Jose has had such a busy schedule!

Like just about everyone else I haven't given any thought to these two films, but those delicious samples are a musical time trip back to the early sixties in America (& who could resist a track called Bongo Stuff). It's Tiki Time, the cocktails are poured & this is floating across the room from the large & well polished stereo system. I think I'll have to buy it.

I'm loving all those European-pressed releases. They cost me 5 euros each (about 1 dollar 50 cents), with free postage. I hope all you US-based fans are paying billions of dollars for importing them! Now who's laughing, eh?

I agree with the comment about Duning's comedy scores not sounding zany and slapsticky but instead light and breezy. They're a joy!

5 euro each... $1.50??? Free shipping???

Where do you get these €5 euro European-pressed releases from?

*Thumbs up to Lukas and Quartet! I like the samples. More collaborations pretty please!

captain X, I was using exaggeration in a feeble attempt at being amusing. They're actually about 16 or 17 euros each, which still seems dirt cheap after literally centuries of paying 250 euros for every US import, plus a billion euros in shipping.
