I never took a hammer to a CD, but I did once bust an LP in half over my knee. A soundtrack dealer swore to me that Lalo Schifrin’s soundtrack for a film called “Hey, Nunzio!” was absolutely brilliant and I had to have it — so much that he sold me a factory sealed copy for like $4, just so I would listen to it. Sometimes you just have to wonder what people were thinking... It was god-awful, unlistenable disco shinola, and since my “dealer” was in Hawaii and would never find out, I had no choice (in the interest of good taste) to put it out of its misery and consign it to the nearest dumpster. And I might add (a) that it was a cut-out, deservedly so, and (b) in 20+ years on this board, I have never seen a thread touting the charms of “Hey, Nunzio!” or calling for a CD release of same!
