Gee, I’ve been saying his name in my head with just two syllables for years.

Hm, okay - that means I've been getting the number of syllables right, but putting the stress on the wrong one!

Thanks zooba, but I shall take the credit for finding that clip and linking to it here about three years ago, thank you. I'd still love to know where that came from. It's obviously just a snippet from something longer, but I don't know if it was originally "simply" part of THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN's publicity. Something doesn't quite ring true there.

So, although I'm taking the credit, thanks again, I should thank zooba once more for bringing this to the top. Pretty rare to see Gil Mellé (that wee squiggle above the last letter should have been a hint regarding pronunciation) in action. Offhand the only other footage of him that I recall is as an interviewee on The History of Blue Note documentary, sitting on a big armchair and puffing on a large cigar. Surely one of the coolest dudes ever.

I wish he was still around today to make promotional videos, pointing his cigar at you and booming, "Buy THE SENTINEL soundtrack, available next month. It's a score I'm pretty much pleased with".
