I always oscillate between Howard and Raj. They are both fantastic supporting characters. I think the edge for me goes to Howard because of the way he delivers his put downs to Sheldon and the way he chides Raj for being so girly.

Who would you pick?

Love Big Bang Theory!

Don't love the theme song, alas... wink

Main (supporting) character: Raj
Supporting character: Stuart
Guest character: Leonard's Mom/Sheldon's Mom

Sheldon is always awesome and Penny is, I think, a thousand times funnier than most people give her credit for. Amy is also incredibly sharp and makes me laugh a lot. Bernadette used to be funny, but now I find her a little grating and too often the writers saddle her with catty/bitchy humor which gets old. Kripke is the one character I've never really liked...he's a one-trick joke pony, and his comedy raison d'etre (the lisp) is just so weak - definitely not enough to justify his continued presence since the beginning, imo. Howard is usually the funniest to me when it comes to voices and physical comedy.

Also, anytime Wil Wheaton makes an appearance, you know you're in for a great episode.

Going to be very sad when the show ends!!! I'm caught up on all seasons except for this current one. Waiting for it to wrap up before I watch it in its entirety.

I don't mind the theme song, as it has a catchy tune. But what bugs me is that I cannot understand what they are saying. I had to Google it to get the lyrics just out of curiosity.

And I agree about Penny. She is very funny and doesn't get enough credit. It SHOULD be mentioned that the writers could have easily made her the "dumb blonde" but they don't. Her character has a lot of common sense.

Me too, I love the show but hate the song. I thought I was the only one who hated the song.

I have met two of the actors, Wil Wheaton and Kevin Sussman who plays Stuart. Sussman was nice, I talked a lot with him. Wheaton was a little bit on the border of being a diva.

I've BEEN a big fan of TBBT for some time, but this last season seems to me as if they're just marking time until the closing curtain, unfortunately. Probably a good time to end it.

If there was an event that caused it to stall, for me it was the death of Howard's mother and the (I suppose) understandable dip into mawkishness that followed it for a while.

I've always liked the relationships between the characters more than the characters themselves, who, for sitcom purposes, have to be a bit stereotyped. The best of these was the Sheldon/Penny axis, followed probably by Howard and Raj's beneath-the-surface bromance, exposed brilliantly and hilariously by Leonard's mother.

I'll be sad to see it come to an end, but at the same time I won't if you see what I mean.

I think my favourite line out of the whole show was Zack's, in response to Penny pointing out that they got married by a fake Elvis. "Of course we did - we couldn't afford a REAL Elvis". (Might be slightly paraphrased.) Still makes me laugh.

Yes but who's your favorite character in that 4:59?

I'll go with Sheldon. I had a friend very much like him who was really, really smart, but was not into human emotion or the "trappings" of friendship, but always expected you to put out for him. I had some of the funnest and funniest times with him, but if you needed a favor or called him for help because your car was in a ditch, he would say: "So?".

Let me think...I guess it must be the guy who looks like Lukas Kendall.

I thought the death of Howard's mother was great way for the show to respond to the real-life event. Much better than re-casting the voice role would have been.

What has hurt the show for me was the way they gradually destroyed the Sheldon character in later seasons. He becomes a soft-hearted loverboy? Are you kidding me? While supposedly making him more relatable, this change has actually made him detestable, because it reveals that he is fully capable of human feeling when there's something in it for him, but he chose to be an a-hole to all his friends for years. Back when (it seemed) Sheldon had mental deficits that made him treat people badly, it was funnier. Now he's just a willful jerk.

The original conception of Amy Farrah Fowler was great too, and they re-wrote her personality as well, but to less damaging effect. She was re-engineered before we got too invested in her original design. And there are still hilarious flashes of the old Amy from time to time.

Original Leonard was a funny and relatable nerd, but mid-Leonard somehow became a total baller, with women lining up to sleep with him. I had trouble believing that. Late Leonard is all about Penny, which is fine.

That said, I still love the show, and watched reruns to the point of memorization on TBS and the local station that also carries it. The show has done an amazing job with characters. As time went on, the cast kept growing, and every addition who stuck has been amazingly good. Amy, Bernadette, and Stuart in particular; any of them could carry their own show. TBBT has the best sitcom cast since Friends, maybe better.

As far as evolution of characters go, Amy evolved into a much better character. Initially, she was a bitchy robot. And now, just a science nerd with love in her heart.

The first two episodes that Bernadette had, she had a normal voice. Then as an acting choice, she decided to go to the squeaky voice. That was a bad decision IMO.

Meanwhile, Sheldon's evolution has been much more natural. He had multiple scenes/episodes where he said he was learning sarcasm, or trying to be more empathetic. And Amy had alot to do with that. I think this is totally plausible. I have 2 good friends who got married. He was a jokester, easy going. She was uptight and a worry wart. They both said that after they met and got to know one another, he became more serious and she learned how to laugh. So people can change.

Amy. She is smart and sassy, has a good heart and does try to help her friends/fiance.

I like Amy. Definitely not my favorite, but I like her. I guess that's why the show is successful - the characters are so likable.

I'm not clicking on a link posted for no reason, under a new handle, who joined the board that day and said something brief and superficial. It looks like another round of spamming by fake handles.

I only recently started watching this, after the final series had ended! Just never caught it before, though I wish I had as I really enjoy it. So I went from the beginning on Netflix, and I'm now halfway through Series 5. I pretty much like all the characters, with the added bonus that Penny is very easy on the eyewink
