I certainly didn't see this coming!

https://www.dreadcentral.com/news/291812/perseverance-records-releasing-prom-night-soundtrack-on-cd-for-first-time-ever/

Release date: May 10, 2019

The presentation seems like quite the conglomeration, for better or worse:

"This soundtrack features four different aspects of the music. First it opens with a re-creation of the score as it appears in the film – or as close to it as it could be assembled from the separate elements. Next is the score that wasn’t used in the picture. Then come the disco songs in approximate order – but omitting the Blue Bazaar songs that were not featured in the movie and were used only as filler for the bootleg Japanese LP. The last portion of the album is dedicated to the songs that don’t appear in the picture yet are as intrinsic to the sound of Prom Night as the songs that made it."

01. Opening
02. Killer's Call List
03. Tearing Up the Yearbook
04. Beach Flashback
05. Prom Night Cello Theme
06. Killer Tension
07. Prom Night Suspense Theme
08. Piano Theme
09. Dancin' in the Moonlight
10. Love Me Till I Die
11. Tonight is Prom Night
12. Changes
13. Time to Turn Around
14. Fade to Black
15. Prom Night (Not used in Film)
16. Love Theme (Not used in Film)
17. Disco Out the Back Door (not used in Film)
18. You Can Be What You Want To Be
19. Another Disco Funk Track
20. Funk Dat Disco (Not used in Film)
21. Burnin' With Desire (Not used in film)
22. Hallway Chase (Not used in film)
23. Haunting Robin (Not used in film)
24. Calm Before the Storm (Not used in film)
25. Caught in the Web (Not used in film)
26. Eerie (Not used in film)
27. Escape (Not used in film)
28. Hunted (Not used in film)
29. Lurking (Not used in film)
30. Quivering (Not used in film)

Are those last 10 tracks just random music library tracks that weren't even used in the film?

In any case, I'm looking forward to hearing some samples.

Wow!

Totally unexpected. This is my kind of jam, especially with all the disco tracks.

I shall own this.

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't remember the music in Prom Night so I'll wait for samples to see if this is up my alley.

This is one of those films I watched once and never saw it again. Not because I didn’t like it, I just never seemed to want to revisit it again like I seem to do with the sequel (guilty pleasure). Maybe I will try to rewatch it again and see about the music.

This would probably get more traction if it were coming out in August or September. I usually don't get into horror stuff until the autumn months.

This popped up in my Amazon recommendations and I was all "UH-BUH???". Well then.

Because clearly music sounds different depending on what time of year you listen to it.

Over 500 more views than "my" Student Bodies vinyl thread! Which only warranted, most likely, a Rutherford diss. I dunno, I never looked. The Titanic of threads, that! I don't technically have a dog in that fight, since I played the lp once & the download a half play.

All that said I'm all over PROM. Looks lovingly produced. The non-disco scoring is what "we" always wanted.

Don’t wait too long. You never know these days!

I’m actually really looking forward to this one. I love these types of scores from around 77-83 with the late disco stuff.
My most wanted from this era would be “Don’t go in the House” by Richard Einhorn featuring some gloriously cheesy disco music and a really creepy electronic score that’s actually quite chilling.

Hopefully this sells well and similar scores follow.

Nice to hear the samples to Prom Night. Are there samples of Student Bodies available?

Waxwork Records will release Don´t go into the house on vinyl this year as one of their subscription titles?

Most probably will another label pick up the Cd rights or something…
I think Intrada will release Robert Folks The Slayer too as the composer mentions it on the BD commentary track
