Download album coming April 12 from Lakeshore. If they follow their past pattern, there will likely be a CD in a month or two, for those who want to hold off.
As expected, a CD has now been announced for June 14, three months after the mp3.
I can only imagine there must be very few CD replication plants left and they must all be backlogged, with how long CDs keep taking. I certainly can't imagine Lakeshore intentionally staggers the CDs so long after the mp3 releases.

Maybe they wait to see what the mp3 demand is like, before they decide on the number of CDs they make.

For the longest time Lakeshore had stickers on their packaging saying they were a limited run of 1000 copies. I don't know if that's still the case, but I suspect they press the same small amount each time.
Saw this film yesterday, quite charming and entertaining, like it quite a bit. And yes, the score is excellent as well. The action beats and the scoring in the mountains, just terrific. I will be waiting for the CD
I was pleasantly surprised. Not only is it in a proper plastic case (no cheap cardboard packaging), it even has a cardboard slipcover over the plastic case, like the late 90s/early 2000s heyday of CDs.

Thanks for the heads up! Great to know this. So packaging is like "Mandy" then.

The only odd thing is that the album title and tracklisting are ONLY on the slipcover, unlike CDs twenty years ago.
The front of the slipcover is the album artwork, the back of the slipcover has the tracklisting.
Once you remove them, the cover of the CD insert just says "Journal" on a green background, which I'm assuming is a reference to the film (haven't seen it) The back artwork on the case is just a fake telegram of some sort, again presumably a reference to the film. The booklet just has sketches from the film.
There is literally no identifying information on the album artwork, it's bizarre, it's all on the slipcover. The only thing that would let anyone know what on earth the CD is from the case is the miniscule name of the film on the spine. Very strange choice, the slipcover is not a duplicate of the album artwork, it actually has vital information.
Has anyone got the CD yet? I quite liked the score while watching the (excellent) movie... but I am curious about the packaging format, since the amazon image is rather confusing... so is it just regular jewel case placed in that ugly slipcase as the image suggests?

Yes. Your picture is the packaging. If you've seen the film, you'll see it's suppose to reflect the explorer's journal. It's all rather inventive and I appreciate something different.
Very nice score, rewarding in it's old fashioned-ness. It has some themes and heart and feelings, nice bits of color percussion. And this film is just an impeccable piece of craftsmanship. The animation is so excellent, stop motion and some CG, they built hundreds of little sets. The chase on the ship as it turns in the waves, really just exceptional. And the vistas of nature as Burwell scores, it is quite beautiful.

Thanks for the confirmation and glad this one is packed properly - quite unusual for Lakeshore these days... Will be ordering a copy soon
