There is some missing music on the 2CD Prometheous THIEF OF BAGDAD (PROXPCD179).

This occurs from 1:14:33 - 1:16:06 on the Criterion DVD. So really only about 1:30 of missing music but I was looking forward to that particular music.
On the CD set it would occur between tracks 4 and 5 on CD2.

4. Abu Fools the Djinn / Abu’s First Wish / Abu’s Demands / The Flying Djinn (5:21)
5. The Skeleton Room / The Spider (6:08)

The Djinn has flown Abu to the roof of the world and he has entered the Palace of the All-Seeing Eye.
There is some exotic music for the interior of the palace and the green-men guardians, punctuated by a series of gong crashes for closeups of the goddess statue.

There is no mention of it in the notes. Can anyone comment on this? On oversight? Not by Rozsa?

Is the Djinn's song included as an extra? (Rex Ingram sings, very out of tune, but it's fun to listen to. )

It's a re-recording so no original film music.

I'm surprised the booklet doesnt explain the absence of that music, even if it's only 90 seconds, since it made an impression.

The ritualistic music didn't appear to be penned by Rozsa. There was a bit of discussion, about this track, during pre-prod - it seems to be a source cue. What also led us to this conclusion is there's a rather marked difference in the sound quality of the recording of this piece compared to that of the surrounding material (which would hint that it's from a different production or library).

There seem to have been two attempts at writing a song for the Djinn - we included one of these (along with a solo instrumental version).

If a source cue, you would think somebody might have identified it in the intervening eighty years. A similar decision was made for EL CID, which omits the funeral chants (possibly Mozarabic?) for King Ferdinand. Also the pervasive Almoravid drumming (possibly developed by Nascimbene?). One can always dispute such choices, but they don't bother me. All of these pieces are "out of character" with the main score.

WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!! Especially this very music gives me goosebumps every time (probably also because of the massive and awe-inspiring size of the temple. I always wondered, even as a child: Who in God's name built this temple? Who would have been capable of such a feat?)

They had to reconstruct the whole score anyway. Why didn't they just record it?

My avatar is really pissed, even now.

Thank you for the response Leigh.
Perhaps it can be recorded as a bonus track on another project. Even if it is labelled as "composer unknown."
Weirdly enough that was the track I was most looking forward to hearing. There was something about the alien/ exotic/ other-wordly quality to the temple and that particular music that accompanied the scene of the temple's cavernous interiour and the colossal goddess statue that was at once awesomely imperial, and also strangely, soothingly calm.
Please consider it for a future re-recording as a personal favor to someone you've never met.
And Thank You again for the reply.
