Four and a half hours of unedited interviews of Vangelis with Tony Palmer from September 2008.

Interesting stuff for all Vangelis fans.....

These interviews were filmed over four days in September 2008, and were intended as the backbone of the first full-length portrait of Vangelis to be called ‘Vangelis and the Journey to Ithaca.’ The film I made has never been released, principally because Vangelis and his appointed spokesman in London, the director Hugh Hudson, demanded numerous editorial changes which were unacceptable to me. Hudson did his best over some months to find a compromise, but it became clear to me that Vangelis did not want any kind of compromise. But given that as a result of the film being blocked the investors, who loved the original film, lost a considerable amount of money, and given that Vangelis is notoriously averse to giving any kind of interview, I felt it was incumbent on me to make these interviews available to anyone who might be interested, especially students of him and his music. They are completely uncut." - Tony Palmer

Yikes! That's great. For someone who hardly ever does interviews, that's a lot all at once. I'll have to set aside days for watching this. Watched the first couple of minutes, and fascinating to see how uncomfortable he is in such situations.

Dare I say that his "uncompromising" attitude is the reason why there has been little success in getting complete releases or unreleased material by him?

Wow, this looks to be a treasure trove. It will indeed take several days to take all this in. Thanks for posting.

So are these interviews unrelated to this "Vangelis - Journey To Ithaka"?

I have that DVD. Very good, and I guess parts of Palmer's interviews are included.

I actually don't think he is particularly uncomfortable. He looks quite relaxed and his answers are good.

I just finished watching the whole thing. Fascinating. A pity he didn't talk more in detail about his albums and scores though.
