Do the CD and vinyl edition contain the same amount of music?

Am I the only one who's having a hard time enjoying the second CD?
Most of the tracks are much weaker than on the first CD and there's a lot of redundant themes.

Now I'm starting to think the 1CD FSM edition might have been enough...

I agree that most of the strongest cues are found on disc 1, but there are still some fun ones on disc 2, such as those tracks from "No Big Thing"... at least I think they're from that episode, but again no thanks to Varese for not indicating this in the notes. Anyway, tracks such as "Nice Day", "Orange Grove" and "Sammy's Crash" are favorites. Interesting to note that the track "Copter" on disc 2 a re-recording of "KITT vs Horse" on disc 1.

So far I have only acquired the 2 lp set, so I hope comments on this are ok in this thread....

That said..
1) This is the first lp I have purchased from Varese since they ruled the soundtrack market back in the good old days...and i have to say that this vinyl pressing is IMMACULATE. A beautiful pressing, with literally no noise that I heard...and PERHAPS only 1 or 2 slight pops IN TOTAL. Incredible pressing...and never did I think that I would hold an lp (let alone a 2 lp set) of Knight Rider in my hands.

2)Maybe I'm easily pleased but am equally happy with lp#2 as I am with #1. Conciously thought to myself what a great example of Stu's ability to write different styles of music, all for the same show.

Finally, a quick track list scan reveals that the lp set is a "best of" the cd set..unless I've missed something. Art design and inner sleeves are great...

Gotta say that the back tray of tracklistings on the cd is not my favourite way of presenting track titles to read....

Bottom line..a million thanks Stu and Varese...may the tv soundtrack releases continue to roll from all labels. So much of this music far exceeds what's being written for films today...of course, in my opinion!!!

I still wish Varese would release a complete version of AIR FORCE ONE. When will that happen?

This is not the way to go about it.

Just listened to this release -- in my car; it's perfect driving music. :-D
Great stuff, glad to have this. I did not pick up the FSM CD when it came out years ago... my bad. But it's now rectified.

Trolling the shit out of every thread isn't gonna do it.

Getting back to Knight Rider, the album's second disc seems to be slightly more rock-orientated to me, especially with some of the guitar, drum and synth work. And I don't mean to say that's a bad thing...

If Stu has any other scores from his various series stashed away under his bed, I wish he'd try and get those out on CD too big grin

Stu has 96 episodes of "The Fall Guy" over at Fox. Orchestra and synth scores.

Many positive things to say about the original FSM CD (and only one not nice thing to say, but it's small*).

The track "Through a Truck/Airport Chase" is one of my personal favorite action cues. Made its way onto an exercise CD I made for stationary exercise biking (fast exercising; need something with energy). Had to raise some quiet parts, but in the end I've listened to that track a lot.

Ended up taking the four-note theme for the bad gal in the pilot and edited it into a kick-ass cue.

Tracks like "A Little Speak" and "Long Walk" are wonderful cues.

Love the laid back cue with growling sax's that is "Automobile Heaven/Piece of Cake/DreaminĀ“/Auto Cruise". Edited it a little and I think I combined a part of another cue with it.

* = If anyone is curious, the slide whistle in that one cue, just really grated on my nerves. Edited it out.

There is a lot of action music on the (new) second CD.
