I'm delighted! I missed the FSM 1CD edition back in 2005.
Now I can get the 2CD Varese edition!

This is a great for people who missed the FSM CD.

However, as a fan of the show' scoring, I find myself just unhappy, because I have to skip it -- I'm not re-buying it even for a disc of unreleased scoring. I wish that instead they had re-issued the FSM CD, then released a separate CD (and that would have been a nice way to get out Morton Stevens' only effort for the series).

Oh well.

I am one of them. Missing out on the FSM release (for reasons I can't even remember) was one of the big regrets of my collecting life. This was my favorite show - my favorite THING, really - for the several years of my life. THIS WILL BE MINE.

I mainly know the show through pop culture osmosis, but I love the theme and damn if I'm not digging these clips. Cool release.

How did you miss this??? It’s coming out on vinyl for RSD, too.

I love Stu Phillips' music for Buck Rogers and BSG '78, so I am all over having more of his catchy TV music on disc, especially since I also missed that FSM Knight Rider album from 2005. I watched the show as a kid when it aired and enjoyed it, so I totally know what to expect musically going into this and am looking forward to the 80's pop vibe in the scores.

Just purchased Knight Rider but as a UK customer I decided to purchase from Intrada because their packaging is far better as they ship in cardboard boxes with packaging inside.

Varese Sarabande are a bit dodgy these days when it comes to customer service. I paid a bit more via Intrada but I have peace of mind with them handling it. I could have also gone with Screen Archives Entertainment as they are also selling it.

I had to sell my copy during hard times. So it will be cool to have this back.

Hopefully the info in the liner notes is more detailed than that of the website (given the lack of, ya know, episode titles). It does look like disc 1 is the same as FSM's sans the End Title which is on disc 2 but the way it's worded they could have included only some of it.....typical Varese x.x

I have the original FSM release, but I do love the mix of symphonic and big-band stylings in these scores, so I didn't need any persuasion to order the new release. Besides, it's Stu Phillips!

Since I missed the other posts about this news, I do appreciate your post Steffro.

I wonder whether this second CD contains the short cues from "Deadly maneuvers"

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6arui8
t= 23:01 to t= 23:38
t= 25:01 to t= 25:09

I wanted those ques ever since I became aware of them.

I am very grateful that Varese has made the effort to expand the Knight Rider soundtrack, and wish that the release will sell so well it prompts them to release more.
It's also great news to see Stu Phillips is involved in this.

Morton Stevens did the music to Deadly Maneuvers and this is a Stu Phillips only release.

Terraepon you are right, comparing with the FSM release, Disc 1s are identical, except the End Titles have been shifted to the end of disc 2 - I've just compared all the tracks.

Disc 2 has music from episodes Good Day At White Rock, Just My Bill, No Big Thing, and Slammin' Sammy's Stunt Show Spectacular.

It's not a matter of who the release has, but rather that Stevens' score is too short for a release of it's own, Don Peake has too many episode scores to be released (and what has not only needs a good mastering, but cues are missing), Stu has had most of his stuff release so it makes sense to pair it with his work on the same show, and it's unlikely to sell by itself on a separate non KR release (which would mean, if it happened, it would need to be another score from the same studio because of rights issues).

Thank you for that information Litefoot. A shame about not having those ques yet again. It's also a shame that the release is $5.- more via SAE (don't know why that is, as Varese is the only one to do that) but I usually order from them.
I was lucky enough to buy the FSM-release when it came out but I still must have CD 2.
