I picked up this score recently and I am listening to it for the first time now. I am new to the work of Pinar Toprak but this is a sweet score. Track 7, "John's Letter" is absolutely lovely. The theme of the score is a bit of romance and whimsy and it certainly works.

The film has a great cast and of course I love it - it is set in my favorite place - Cape Cod.

Gee, thanks for pointing this out to me. I was hoping you would comment on the score.

I remember waxing lyrical about this score in the other thread.
It's very lovely and Thomas Newmany.

Thanks for waxing in this one Kev. In all honesty. I looked for another thread before I posted this (I always do) and with this wonky search engine, I could not find it. I am sure someone will resurrect it shortly. smile

My first Toprak score as well...I actually didn't love it right away...listened to it once and thought it was just ok. A few months later, came upon it in a playlist and suddenly really liked it...and now I kinda love it. Agreed that it's has a very Newmanesque feel to it in places (but I love that sound, so I'm not complaining). I hope the powers-that-be release some more of her older scores (maybe Say It In Russian will get a larger release...talk about a beautiful score).

I almost snagged Say It In Russian just recently but missed out because, despite Intermezzo saying it was in stock on their site, it wasn't.

The Wind Gods is wonderful.

I played it again this morning and it indeed is lovelier the second time. I have heard bits of The Wind Gods on YouTube and it is wonderful.

Agreed on Wind Gods...I purchased it a weekend we happened to be going to the coast and it was the perfect music for driving along the ocean. It was the 2nd Toprak score I picked up...and when I realized what a range she has...it's why I'm excited to see her get more work (hopefully). I think we could be in for some real treats in the future.

I don't know Pinar. Only listened to The River Murders that's a nice effort, it has the feel of religious partly from the movie the violins & cello's in that score are lovely pieces sweet piano stuff too the choir work is fantastic its quite haunting for most part, but like most scores it has uplifting moments.
