First of all I totally forgot to look for a previous thread on this score, and I just EASILY found it in the search engine. Sometimes I can't find a previous topic, but this one popped right up. My bad. Here it is. https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=126306&forumID=1&archive=0 MCurry29, thank you for your kind offer, but I will look for the movie to try to hear the score in its context, and if I like it, I would buy the CD. I might see if some of the score is on youtube. The movie never came to my town, and I'm not sure why. Also, I wonder why Ebert is just now reviewing it? Maybe it had a limited release at one time and now will get a full release. Anyway, thanks for your gracious offer, and I'll look for the movie and for samples of the score.

To my knowledge this film never opened in Chicago & I would like to see it. To those that have seen it; how long ago did you see it & what cities did it play in ?? The movie was shot back in 2016. US rights originally belonged to Weinstein. The delay in releasing it here is because the producers had to disentangle the film from the remnants of Weinstein and then find a new US distributor. It was released overseas early last year, but only opened in the US this weekend, in limited release. It was released overseas by Universal, and has already come out on Blu-Ray. The UK Blu-Ray should be region-free: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mary-Magdalene-Blu-ray/dp/B07B61GLFP To my knowledge, almost all Universal discs are region-free.

Film Score: Thor you are so wrong on this. Mary Magdalene is absolutely brilliant and if you do not think the last 4 tracks are not "God-Like"- well, I wonder what you are hearing. If you'd like Joan- I will buy you the CD. This music just hits me directly in the heart. It was my favorite score of 2018 and most played. Like I've said before, I think I'm the only one who bought the CD and absolutely no one shares my opinion- including the Viking. I am the Johannsson expert here and he dominated 2018 with his brilliance. Again, Orphee is the overall Masterpiece. Miner's Hymns and Sicario- the film score Masterpieces. Thor, someday we gonna have a showdown. Ha!! Well, I've met and chatted with the man himself, if that helps! Don't get me wrong, I think the MARY score is fine; it was just weird to not see him (and Hildur) channeling the religiousity aspect of the film more clearly. You know I'm just joking around- I hope. Regarding the "religiosity" aspect. I FEEL It myself, and like I stated previously those last 4-maybe 5 tracks are pure heaven. I agree that the music is "spiritual". The liner notes by the Director confirm he felt it as well. Oh, and "Goats" is to be played at 11!!!
