MONDAY, APRIL 15

GAME OF THRONES---trailer released for Episode 2.
Also, George RR Martin said he does not think the series ending on May 19 will be much different from his novels, “I don’t think Dan [Weiss] and Dave’s [Benioff] ending is going to be that different from my ending because of the conversations we did have, but they may be on certain secondary characters, there may be differences."

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---at Star Wars Celebration when the trailer concluded with an evil laugh, Ian McDiarmid appeared on stage to confirm the evil laughter marks the return of Emperor Palpatine.
JJ Abrams said he talked to George Lucas before writing the trilogy finale, “This movie had a very, very specific challenge, which was to take eight films and give an ending to three trilogies, and so we had to look at, what is the bigger story? We had conversations amongst ourselves, we met with George Lucas before writing the script,” Abrams said. “These were things that were in real, not debate, but looking at the vastness of the story and trying to figure out, what is the way to conclude this? But it has to work on its own as a movie, it has to be its own thing, it has to be surprising and funny and you have to understand it.”
Also, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy talked about the franchise's future, “We knew we were going to close this up; we knew that even before we started THE FORCE AWAKENS. We are looking at the next saga. We are not just looking at another trilogy; we’re really looking at the next ten years or more. This [THE RISE OF SKYWALKER] is the culmination of the Skywalker Saga; it’s by no means the culmination of STAR WARS. I’m sitting down now with Dan Weiss and David Benioff…and Rian Johnson. We’re all sitting down to talk about, where do we go next? We’ve all had conversations about what the possibilities might be, but now we’re locking it down.”

THE MANDALORIAN---photos from the Disney+ STAR WARS tv series show Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers and Gina Carano. Jon Favreau said the series is set five years after RETURN OF THE JEDI. Pascal plays bounty hunter The Mandalorian whose spaceship, Razor Crest, is an army surplus gunship. Weathers plays Grief Carga, head of the bounty hunters guild, who hires The Mandalorian. Carano plays Kara Dune, an ex-Rebel shock trooper. Werner Herzog plays an Imperial villain, and Giancarlo Esposito plays an Imperial Death Troop commander.
Also, a photo was released showing Pascal, Weathers and Carano with the 501st Legion Imperial Stormtroopers cosplay group, who were given surprise roles as actual Imperial Stormtroopers when there weren't enough extras available to play Stormtroopers.

AVATAR---James Cameron announced that Michelle Yeoh (STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, TOMORROW NEVER DIES) will play scientist Dr. Karina Mogue in the sequels.

JAMES BOND---Phoebe Waller-Bridge is rewriting the 25th James Bond movie script to add some humor at the request of Daniel Craig.

SPEED---Keanu Reeves said after he refused to return for the sequel SPEED 2: CRUISE CONTROL, 20th Century Fox blacklisted him until 2008 when he starred in the remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL in 2008.

PERRY MASON---Tatiana Maslany (ORPHAN BLACK) will play Sister Alice, a powerful radio minister, in the HBO miniseries.

HILLBILLY ELEGY---Gabriel Basso (KONG: SKULL ISLAND) will play the lead role in the Ron Howard/Netflix movie based on the memoir.

Man, that Gina Carano is smokin' hot.

If you meant Carla Gugino I would've agreed.

    She isn't. She looks manly.
