MONDAY, APRIL 29

GAME OF THRONES---trailer released for Episode 4.

MURDER MYSTERY---trailer released for the Netflix comedy movie starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YEVQDr2f3Q&t=104s

AVENGERS: ENDGAME---fan reaction to the record-setting sequel has been over the top. In Hong Kong, reportedly a man leaving the theater after watching ENDGAME shouted spoilers to fans waiting in line to see the sequel and was then beaten bloody by the irate fans.
A 21 year-old woman in China was watching the sequel and began to cry uncontrollably and then hyperventilated. She was, "short of breath and her hands and feet felt numb." She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

STAR WARS---Mark Hamill, who has been vocal about his unhappiness with how Luke Skywalker has been used in the new movies, posted fan art showing Luke, Leia, Han Solo and Lando Calrissian together in the Milliennium Falcon on a final mission with the caption "STAR WARS: WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN". After he received a lot of fan criticism for posting the photo, Hamill replied, “Saw a pic of me with Billy D, Harrison & Carrie. Posted it because I miss them. Nothing more, nothing less. I love the new cast too & didn’t mean to get everyone’s knickers in a twist. Maybe I should’ve just posted a bunch of #Endgame spoilers instead. #RelaxAndHaveFunPeople”.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY---Anson Mount commented on show runner Alex Kurtzman's hint that a Captain Christopher Pike spinoff tv series may be in the future and a fan petition that is underway for a Pike series, “It checks all the boxes. It’s a character I love, it’s a franchise I love, it’s an experience that I have already loved. Obviously, any opportunity to go back and play with that incredible team, led by (executive producer and co-creator) Alex Kurtzman and all of those incredible artisans from costumes, to makeup, to art, to props. Everybody in that crew is operating at the top of their game.”

DRACULA---Catherine Schell (ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, SPACE: 1999, THE RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER) will co-star in the BBC/Netflix three-part miniseries from Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat (SHERLOCK) that is based on the Bram Stoker novel.

THE GREATEST BEER RUN---Peter Farrelly (GREEN BOOK) is the writer/director of this movie based on the book described as, '"In 1967, John (Chick) Donohue was a 26-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran working as a merchant seaman when he was challenged one night in a New York City bar. The men gathered at this hearth had lost family and friends in the ongoing war in Vietnam. Now, they were seeing protesters turn on the troops. One neighborhood patriot proposed an idea many might deem preposterous: One of them should sneak into Vietnam, track down their buddies in combat, and give each of them messages of support from back home, maybe some laughs — and beer.
Chick volunteered for the mission. He sailed to Vietnam on a cargo ship carrying a backpack full of American beer, landing in Qui Nho’n in 1968. Things went awry when Chick got caught in the Tet Offensive, starting in the early hours as an eyewitness to the battle to retake the U.S. Embassy in Saigon, where he became stuck for months.
Chick Donohue later became legendary as “the sandhog who went to Harvard.” He worked for decades on behalf of New York’s tunnel builders as the legislative and political director of Sandhogs Local 147."'

TOM AND JERRY---Chloe Grace Moretz will co-star in the live-action movie based on the cartoon characters. Moretz will play Kayla, a luxury hotel employee who gets alley cat Tom to get rid of mouse Jerry before he ruins a posh wedding event at the hotel.

SANTA CLARITA DIET---Netflix cancelled the series.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
Monica Belluci was the oldest Bond Girl when, at the age of 50, she played Lucia Sciarra in SPECTRE. Honor Blackman had been the oldest Bond Girl when she played Pussy Galore at the age of 37 in GOLDFINGER.
Belluci had auditioned for the Bond Girl role of Paris Carver in TOMORROW NEVER DIES, but Pierce Brosnan commented, "The fools said no."

Are you not entertained?

First time Hamill has disappointed me. Don't obfuscate, don't apologize!

Don't matter who you give their own show. Anything run by Bad Robot is going to be trash.

The whole "seeing the face of god" and hyperventilating over Avengers Endgame, or beating the crap out of the spoiler, it is all really just a bit too much, people are turned into drooling animals. None of this or the absurd box office is a good thing for movies in the long run.

I can't find any sympathy for an asshole that walks out of a theater and screams out details of the movie people are just about to see, ruining peoples' evenings.

Me either. If it were possible to beat the asses of internet trolls, there would be much less of that behavior going on. He tried it in real life and faced the consequences. Good work, genius. Next time think of the golden rule. It's as simple as that.

People have a lot more to be upset about than a stupid movie. No one should be physical assaulted for spoiling a movie and who exactly decides who's a troll?

Indeed. The spoiler guy is either an asshole or mentally challenged. But resorting to violence is abhorrent in any case.

I don't ever condone physical violence, especially over light entertainment. However, fans who waited a full year for the resolution of the immediate story and 11 years for the conclusion of the arc, who stayed feverishly away from spoilers, have a right to not have some asshole shout out the details of the film. And they have every right to be upset at the douchebag. I would be pissed as all hell and would most likely shout obscenities at him. But actually beat the crap out of him? That's kinda pushing it.

Having said that, I don't feel badly for him. There are very passionate fans out there, the same type who paint themselves up at sporting events and throw Molotov Cocktails at cars when their teams lose. Always know your audience.

Final thought: I object to calling it a "stupid movie" because we're all fans of something other people think is ridiculous. Hell, just the fact that you're all part of a Film Score Message Board makes you a fan of a genre that most people think is worthless. If you don't like it or aren't interested, fine and dandy. I don't care about Game of Thrones either, but I support fans who are eating up the emotional final season. The "get the those kids off my lawn" attitude around here gets a little, pun intended, old.

Yeah, this comic book fervor stuff, it is just out of hand, it is like some kind of quasi religious quackery, and this conduct is absolutely unacceptable, it does not at all speak well of these fans.

Yes, a shame. SANTA CLARITA was a cool show (although quite gross on occasion). All my favourite TV shows are being cancelled, while all the crap that I have no interest in remains.

I know you didn't like it but I loved the 2 seasons of Discovery. So I'm gonna disagree with you there.

And Anson as Pike elevated S2, without a doubt. I would absolutely watch a Pike spinoff with Anson at the helm.

I'm sure Anson as Pike was the best thing about S2. But it's not enough to make me want to see a Pike series made by Bad Robot and CBS.

Well from what I heard it is a stupid movie. big grin But I get your point. We all like different things and many enjoyed the film and got entertainment value from it. My main point in saying "stupid" was to say in the grand scheme of things spoiling a movie should be way down the list of things to get upset about.

It is interesting how much a person's view of an extreme event is clouded by their personal like or dislike of the genre, movie, group, etc. of which the extremist is a follower. If one is a supporter, he or she views the actions as an isolated event by a lone wolf extremist. If one is a detractor, the isolated actions are seemingly attributed to everyone who counts themselves a fan.

The fact is, the larger a following anything has, whether it is a movie, a sports team (see Oldsmith's post above), a political leaning, a religion, etc., the more likely it attracts those who are bigoted, violent, or just plain nut jobs. Avengers Endgame is breaking all sorts of attendance records around the world, and the fact that we are hearing about a couple isolated incidents among the millions of people who saw the movie over the past few days speaks volumes.

I don't condone violence of any sort, but I also don't have the slightest bit of sympathy for someone who knowingly chooses to be an asshole.

I agree, but to turn it around, what inspires someone who sees a bunch of people in line excited to see a movie to go and try and ruin it for as many people as possible? This wasn't a private conversation overheard by someone who then got violent. It was someone who was intentionally being obnoxious to a bunch of strangers.

There's an aspect of these movies that people really do take to heart. As much as a lot of white males don't care, because we always had heroes to represent us, other genders and races have been far less represented. So when you have a movie where Black Panther and his people arrive just in time to back up the Avengers or a group of female heroes do the same and the theater just explodes in cheers from the groups who identify most with them, you really see how important this is. Groups that had no real larger number of heroes to look up to.

It's kind if a dopey movie, yes, but the symbolism is strong and the messages are important. Some of us look at these as light and disposable entertainment. But many others consider them real heroes. Much like Uhura was on Star Trek.

While this doesn't make beating the crap out of a guy for being a douche "right," it can partly explain why people get so worked up over a comic book movie. Many legendary heroes of literature were fictional. So, I reach, brother...

No offense to you but that's ridiculous SJW BS. Their distorted world view and forced agenda is what is ruining absolutely everything in the entertainment industry. Many groaned over the cringe worthy "girl power" scene and are rightfully ticked off over emasculating Thor and the Hulk. (hopefully not enough to physically assault a SJW though) Gene Roddenberry did it right and with class.

It is not an important movie, that is what Solium is saying, and I agree with him. It is pathetic that Disney has so successfully persuaded so many millions of people that this stuff is the new opiate of the masses, instead of just light entertainment.

Well, considering I actually know people who are inspired and feel empowered by these characters (one is an adult black fella and more than one girl who has felt slighted her whole life), I'm gonna disagree. Whether you think it's manufactured or not, they have these feelings and I don't have the right to tell them not to. Nobody does.

Get your inspiration where you can find it. It may not be important to you, but it is to them.
