THE WALKING DEAD---former cast member Chad Coleman (Tyreese) said he no longer watches his former tv series, “No, I haven’t been [watching]. You know, after Glenn and Abraham … Negan smashed their heads in that way. It was just kinda like, ‘That’s enough for me. Thanks guys. Take care. All the best.’ But they’re coming back around to more nuanced, less extreme characters.
One of the benefits and joys of playing Tyreese. He’s a very real man in a very tough situation. You felt his humanity, his sensitivity, and all of the things that all of us just as regular folks, I would imagine, would go through. So they’re getting back to nuanced character stuff with [new showrunner] Angela Kang.
She was very much a part of, as a writer, what I would call the glory years. Seasons 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. All of that. So she’s at the helm, proud of her, so I look forward to a change.”

SPEED---Halle Berry said she regrets rejecting the role in the 1994 movie that went to Sandra Bullock, "I don't know if you know this, but I was offered SPEED before Sandra Bullock. I stupidly said no. But in my defense, when I read the script the bus didn't leave the parking lot. I was like, 'No, no, no, no.' Then I see the movie and I'm like, 'Arrrrghh!'... They were offering me the parking lot version."

WOODY ALLEN---Woody Allen shopped his new memoir around late last year, but four major publishing houses were not interested in it because, as one source said, it is "toxic" to have business dealings with Allen after his daughter, Dylan Farrow, claimed he molested her when she was seven years old. Allen's friend, writer Daphne Merkin, said, “He’s not one to set the record straight, but presumably, the memoir is his side of things. He’s the kind of person who soldiers on, and someone whose work is his nutrient. Whatever vicissitudes he’s been exposed to, I think he keeps his own counsel about how all this affects and doesn’t affect him.”
Michael Caine, Colin Firth, Greta Gerwig, Ellen Page and Timothee Chalamet vowed they would never work with Allen again, but Anjelica Huston said she would, “In a second."
VARIETY editor Tim Gray said, “Personally, I don’t foresee any work in his future."

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG---director Jeff Fowler said the design will be changed after fan criticism that Sonic's limbs and teeth were too human-like, "Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be..."

WILD MOUNTAIN THYME---Jamie Dornan and Holliday Grainger star as, “obstinate star-crossed lovers, whose families are caught up in a feud over a hotly contested patch of land that separates their two farms" in this John Patrick Shanley movie based on the Broadway play.

THE COLLECTOR---the second sequel to the 2009 horror movie is underway.

COBRA KAI---Youtube renewed the series for Season 3.

BLACK-ISH---ABC renewed the series for Season 6 and is developing a spinoff series titled MIXED-ISH.

THE GILDED AGE---the Julian Fellowes series is moving to HBO from its original network, NBC.

TRIVIA---North Carolina native Betsy Brantley's first movie was co-starring with Sean Connery in FIVE DAYS ONE SUMMER. She is also known as director Steven Soderbergh's ex-wife. But arguably her most famous role was the performance model for Jessica Rabbit in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT.

THE COLLECTOR

I really, really, really liked The Collector. I think it is one of the most suspenseful, tense horror movies ever made, bolstered by creative cinematography. The protagonist was intelligent and the action followed a logical rule set. I cannot say I am thrilled about a third film.

The second film veered far too much into impossible territory... a malady of most of the SAW movies after #3 (3?). Illustratively, the perpetrator in the first SAW spent his life crafting schemes and traps for specific moments at which humanity was to be tested, and tested in a way in which he had predicted an outcome. A great deal of effort, time, and resources on a carefully considered gamble. Later SAW movies - for the sake of the franchise - distended this out, to the point where the films could still be appreciated, but were now bereft of that measure of practical believability.

The second The Collector film suffered from the same. Without spoiling, the antagonist implements what are industrial scale machinations - on his own... whilst on the run from investigators and all the event fallout from the first film. I suspect and fear that a third film will stretch that credulity even further. Even a criminal genius can not possibly account for, predict, counter, and build accordingly to every conceivable potential. We would need a quantum A.I. intelligence two or three generations removed to be capable of that.

The first film is absolutely worthy. A classic horror film. If there is to be a third, producers should endeavour to correct the Godliness of the perpetrator. There needs to be a re-grounding of what they present, so the villain once again appears mortal. Mistakes, miscalculations, and limitations should be elements with potential for all characters, not just the victims.
