La-La Land Records, Warner Bros. Some funny trivia from imdb about Sentinel (1977) score

"Academy Award-winner John Williams was originally supposed to score the music. However, when Williams backed out to do a project by George Lucas, Michael Small was later supposed to be a replacement. Small eventually was unable to do the score which led to Golden Globe-nominee Gil Mellé, who composed a chilling score which blends the elements of Williams, Jerry Fielding, and James Horner."

The above imdb quote is utter rubish and deserves to be deleted. Gil's music sounds nothing like Williams or Fielding.

Mellé was composing in the style of James Horner...in 1977??

Yeah ... but by 1978, Mellé shied himself away from that Horner influence and began instead to imitate the sounds of Klaus Badelt.

What an awesome customer service by LLL.
Ordered Sentinel score today and got shipping notification...wait for it...today.

MD, I see from your profile that you're in the "EU"... Does that mean European Union or Estados Unidos? The questions don't get much dumber than that, but I'll at least tell you why I'm asking -

I'm too old and staid to get excited about pretty much anything nowadays, but I'm making an exception for THE SENTINEL. I stopped ordering direct from the US about ten years ago, instead just pre-ordering from European stores and waiting weeks or sometimes months for the goods. But I was in no hurry, and although it seemed that it would work out cheaper ordering from the US, at least when ordering from within Europe I knew I wouldn't have additional import charges and bollox like that. So I just sat patiently.

But when you mentioned the "awesome customer service", I thought "Bugger this waiting. It's Gil freakin' Mellé and it's the flippin' Sentinel, man!", and so I am rethinking my stance today. Shall I order direct from LLL? Or shall I not? These are the burning questions which keep the FSM Board at the cutting edge.

One further question - I did send an email or something to LLL, but I think I did it wrongly and it went into the void - The shipping and handling charges are quite clear on their site, but are there any additional charges which appear as optional just when you're about to submit your order? That's what stopped me ordering from SAE, the "50 dollars insurance charge, or no replacements in case of loss".

This was specifically for MD, but anyone within the EU (if that's the European Union, ie France, Spain, Germany, Italy... there might be more) is free to help me with my queries. Even comments from the Estados Unidos, why not? Hang on, I'm forgetting somebody - Mr (Member) in France. Number 1 Gil Mellé fan (it's not me after all). How are you ordering this, Member? Or is it classified information?

Graham, LaLaLand are cool for ordering overseas.
They don't add any extra postal charges over what's advertised AND their packages generally avoid those dreaded customs duties.
Although Intrada are a tad cheaper in their postage/packing rates (and stock other label titles too, so the more you order from them, the cheaper it is, so they're best for bulk orders), LLL are cool too and if you see any other bargain CD's at their site that you're interested in, bung em in with that crazy Gil Melle sh!t you keep bangin' onnaaarrrbbaarrr.
