I just watched the first episode last night. The music was phenomenal. One sentence review:

"This is what radiation sounds like."

I saw that Deutsche Grammophon will release the official soundtrack album, I just don't know the release date.

"This is what radiation sounds like."

+1

The music in this series is eerily effective. Its dark, industrial minimalism lingered in my mind like a dose of radiation for days after watching the first episode.

I read that she will also be composing the score to the new Joker film as well.

"This is what radiation sounds like."

Right... so, expect a lot of noise and no music at all.

Listened to the clip.
This music perfectly depicts the blank expression on my face when listening to it.

I liked the way Ben Wallfisch scored a similar story - BHOPAL A PRAYER FOR RAIN - with a combination of searing orchestral terror AND gorgeous, tragic heartfelt music.
I think Hil Gud is a completely different type of composer.

Can this even be classified as music...?
Sounds more like sfx?

I only buy scores from composers whose name I can pronounce.

very nice sound design, I wouldn't call it music, it works great in the movie, but as a listening separate experience .. excruciating

Only seen the first episode, but really liked it. Will follow this series. The score worked great in context, I'll reserve judgement on the soundtrack listenability untill I've heard it.

watched first two episodes. the music reminded me of what Hans Zimmer did for Dunkirk but not as upfront as that score.

great series. While they truncated the people involved it is nearly accurate so far. Have read and reading again Ablaze by Piers Paul Reed about the accident and the aftermath of same.

I don't necessarily need it to be 'accurate'; it's not a documentary! But I need it to be emotionally involving.

I believe it's

Good Nuh Daughter

I just listened to the second episode podcast and they pronounce her last name with a daughter at the end as well.

Also, LOVE the series and the score so far!

"It's not 3 roentgen. It's 15,000."

o.O

as stated it is a good series so far and shows the extreme sadness of what took place.

and I love the actors in it as well.

I personally love the score. It's jarring and horrifying. Perfect for the show. The tension is so well done. I'll be getting the CD when it comes out.

The show is tremendous. I agree the score is probably not something I'd listen to outside the film but it's incredibly effective and perfectly suited to the subject.

The show is superb. The score is functional if not unremarkable. It is what it is.

‘Chernobyl’ Score Composer Used Only Sounds From An Actual Nuclear Plant

In a recent interview, composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, who composed the score for the HBO miniseries ‘Chernobyl’, revealed how the score came together. Namely: every sound in the score is recorded from sounds from inside a nuclear power plant.

In the interview, conducted by Score: The Podcast, Hildur went into fascinating detail about the creative process.

“They filmed most of the series in Lithuania, in a power plant that’s been decommissioned,” she said. “So right before they went there to shoot, I went there to record. I went there with my score producer, Chris Watson, who records all the David Attenborough films and episodes. So he’s a master field recording engineer. We went in [the nuclear plant] in full hazmat suits and everything. We went there to record the power plant, and we worked the score from those recordings. Every single sound in the score is made from those power plant recordings.”

When asked to clarify by the interviewers as to whether she meant they banged on things in the plant or played instruments in there, Hildur reiterated: “No, I was observing the power plant. I didn’t really want to play it as such, but I wanted to go there and experience what it’s like to be in a power plant.”

Why is it that Anglosaxons have absolutely no grip on foreign languages and their pronounciation?!
