FRIDAY, MAY 17 THE BATMAN---sources say Robert Pattinson is "expected to close shortly" to replace Ben Affleck as Batman in the Matt Reeves movie. However, several fan petitions have already been started protesting Pattinson getting the role. One petition said, "Don't make the Batfleck mistake again. Don't do it. For the love of all that is holy, stop trashing the DC Universe." Other sources say Nicholas Hoult is still a candidate for the role. TOP GUN: MAVERICK---a second of two Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets being used in the sequel was photographed at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The second jet was a single-seat F/A-18E, and the first was a two-seat F/A-18F. Both were painted with "'Capt Pete Mitchell "Maverick"', Tom Cruise's character, on the fuselage. Mitchell's three MiG kills from the original movie were also painted on the two jets. The two-seat F/A-18F carries video cameras in the cockpit. GAME OF THRONES---the fan petition to rewrite Season 8 has reached over 837,000 signatures. Also, clinical psychologist and GAME OF THRONES fan Janina Scarlet commented on fan disappointment with Daenerys Targaryen fulfilling the "Mad Queen" prophecy and torching King's Landing, "Parasocial relationships can help fans to feel less alone in their mental health struggles, can inspire hope, and create a dialogue about trauma and recovery. Seeing a person who came from an abusive childhood, experienced violence, assault and tragedy can inspire many other trauma survivors, especially women, to better understand and process their traumatic experiences as well. For many fans, especially women, who might identify with Daenerys in terms of being a survivor, this sudden change can be both confusing and emotionally distressing. Such story arc can appear to take away from agency that many trauma survivors may develop through parasocial relationships." GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE---Carla Gugino will co-star with Karen Gillan, Lena Heady and Michelle Yeoh in the mother-daughter assassin movie. JAMES BOND---Robert Madden commented on rumors that he will be the new James Bond, “It’s very flattering to be involved in that conversation at all, but it’s all just talk and I’m sure next week it’ll be someone different." THE GOON---20th Century Fox movie underway based on the comic book. FAST & FURIOUS 9 ---Michelle Rodriguez agreed to return for the next sequel after a female writer will be added to the writing team. MAGIC ORDER---Netflix series underway based on the Mark Millar graphic novel. James Wan will direct the pilot. THE TICK---Amazon cancelled the series. TRIVIA---in SHARKY'S MACHINE (Burt Reynolds, Rachel Ward), Darryl Hickman played the crooked cop, Smiley. Hickman is the older brother of Dwayne Hickman who starred in THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS. In SHARKY'S MACHINE, Darryl Hickman played Smiley, the crooked cop who presided over Sharky having two fingers cut off. Hickman's younger brother, Dwayne Hickman, starred in THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS.

Fans have complained about pretty much every actor cast as Batman. I am willing to keep an open mind and see how he does.

People have been complaining about Batman because all the "serious" live-action Batman characters have sucked in the choice of actor. Even Keaton sucked, just not as much as all the others. We've yet to have the Christopher Reeves of Batman yet (again, for serious live action).

THE TICK---Amazon cancelled the series. Oh, I better tell the Tick. Oh wait, the Tick is fighting the Tick. Rewrite the season? It's madness. Madness. Wait for the book. You want fanwhiners to read...

Anyone remember the Robby Benson/Beauty and the Beast outrage? And look how that turned out. I'm still counting the days when the continued existence of the Washington Redskins will "start conversations" with outrage headlines for the billionth time.

Of any Batman, live action or animated, Kevin Conroy is my favorite. And for the Joker, a tie between Hamill's Joker and Romero's Joker. I watched a convention once and Conroy and Hamill were up there and a fan asked which Batman actor they liked and I think Joker, too. While they wouldn't pin any one person down, a fun exchange occurred: Conroy: "You're my Joker." Hamill: "You're my batman."

Game of Thrones should be rewritten with zero conflict and all the characters being awarded participation medals so people in real life can deal with it. Your comment has nothing to do with anything. It's to do with game of thrones. The hint is in the first three words.

Hamill did a fine job, especially when one remembers that Batman TAS was an after-school show for children. They couldn't exactly depict the Joker of, say, "A Death in the Family", could they?
