This week's Hidden Gem (#50 as we count down to #1) is an Australian film from the '70s directed by a Canadian. If you've seen this one, please share your thoughts. If not, please let us know if this sounds like a film you'd like to see:
It's a really decent film. It makes you feel the sweat and grime of small town Oz. The aggressive mateyness of the townsfolk creates an oppressive air. The kangaroo cull is a hard watch though. Along with the main chàracter you really feel trapped in the town. Donald Pleasance is as great as ever. Watch it with a beer or big drink at hand, the heat will make you thirsty. Definitely worth a watch.
The book is also a very good quick read with a slightly different ending.
