What a bad decade for superhero film scores! That's not even a little bit true. Even if you just count 2000-2009, there are a lot of really fine scores for the genre, even if many of the films didn't live up to their music. X-Men 2 Hellboy Hellboy 2 Hancock All 3 Raimi Spider-Man films X-Men: The Last Stand Superman Returns Blade 2 Fantastic Four Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer Batman Begins The Dark Knight The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Without a doubt, The Incredibles. Because he slavishly imitates John Barry, one presumes?

Since the question is favorite score (singular).... Actually, what Kevin said up front was: "But what are your favourite scores? And which one is top of the pile?" So many are good, as long as you put one on top. I put Hellboy (2004) on top, for me that's numero uno.

Iron Man 3 Close second: X-Men First Class Quality choices. It's too bad that Tyler got sideways with Marvel. Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World are two impressive scores and back to back.

Since 2000, more or less chronologically: X-Men, Michael Kamen The Punisher, Carlo Siliotto Hellboy, Marco Beltrami X-Men: The Last Stand, John Powell Ghost Rider, Christopher Young Spider-Man 3, Christopher Young The Incredible Hulk, Craig Armstrong The Amazing Spider-Man, James Horner Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Brian Tyler I bolded the three I return to the most. 4 would be X-Men. Since then I don't really have favorites. There are ones that I enjoy (Giacchino, Beck, Tyler). There are ones that consistently bore me (Ottman, Jackman, Bates). There are ones that I enjoy specific cues or sequences. If you wanted to make the above 9 a top 10 maybe add Powell's Hancock, which makes up for an okay first half with a wonderful second half, or possibly Tyler's Iron Man Three. EDIT: Oh crap, I forgot Jeff Russo's occasionally sublime The Umbrella Academy. So that's in there as well.

I forgot Elfman's Hulk - I love that score! It should be used for a Frankenstein movie.

I also find the 2000s onward difficult as there are few opportunities to really let loose in modern, fast-edited films. However I am partial to Silvestri's Captain America and Tyler's Iron Man 3. I still wish Tyler's "Can You Dig It" was given a showcase in the actual movie. That would have been incredible.
