GAME OF THRONES---the series finale drew a HBO record 19.3 million total viewers. It also had a record single telecast 13.6 million viewers which beat THE SOPRANOS Season 4 premiere of 13.4 million viewers.
TV Time conducted a fan poll of the series finale with the following results:

Very Satisfied--10%
Pretty Satisfied--14%
Somewhat satisfied--30%
Disappointed--46%

Sophie Turner commented on fan criticism of Season 8 and the petition to have it rewritten, "Honestly, I’m not surprised. People always have an idea in their heads of how they want a show to finish, and so when it doesn’t go to their liking, they start to speak up about it and rebel.
The thing about GAME OF THRONES that’s always been amazing is the fact that there’s always been crazy twists and turns, right from Season 1 with Ned’s beheading. So Daenerys becoming something of the Mad Queen — it shouldn’t be such a negative thing for fans. It’s a shock for sure, but I think it’s just because it hasn’t gone their way.
All of these petitions and things like that — I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season. Like 50-something night shoots. So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful."

TRUE LIES---Disney+ tv series underway based on the 1994 James Cameron movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. Creator McG said Schwarzenegger might appear in the tv series, “There’s talk of that. It’s largely rebooted but there may be a spot there, we’ll see.”

THE BATMAN---sources said the main villains in the movie are The Penguin and Catwoman. There could be up to six total villains.

GHOSTBUSTERS---Dan Aykroyd said he has written a tv series script, “I’ve written Ghostbusters High where they meet in New Jersey in 1969 and we’re looking to do that as probably a glorified feature or pilot within the next maybe five years. And it would lead to a television project and I thought of [Jason Reitman] immediately for that. It’s on his desk but that’s years away from the current project. But it’s a neat idea for a prequel. Imagine casting the three characters as teenagers!”

THE FOUNTAINHEAD---Zack Snyder said he is developing a tv series based on the Ayn rand novel, “People will think it’s hardcore right-wing propaganda, but I don’t view it like that. I just think the story is super fun and crazy and melodramatic about architecture and sex..."
Snyder is also working on THE LAST PHOTOGRAPH, a war movie and a Napoleon biomovie he said was, “in the form of Scarface” that is, "f*cking awesome.”

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4---Lionsgate Entertainment announced the latest sequel is underway and will premiere on May 21, 2021.

HUMANS---AMC cancelled the series.

TRIVIA---Kurt Russell encountered fictional alien invaders in THE THING and STARGATE, but he says he may have encountered real aliens when he was the first person who reported the internationally-publicized "Phoenix Lights" UFO sightings which were seen by thousands of people in Arizona, Nevada and Mexico on March 13,1997. Russell said, “I was flying [his son Oliver] to go see his girlfriend, and we were on approach. I saw six lights over the airport in absolute uniform in a V shape. Oliver said to me — I was just looking at him, I was coming in, we’re maybe a half a mile out — and Oliver said, ‘Pa, what are those lights?’"
He added, “Then I kind of came out of my reverie and I said, ‘I don’t know what they are.’ He said, ‘Are we okay here?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna call in,’ and I reported it.”

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, despite me not seeing it until this summer and that 2019 isn't yet half over, pretty much has the #1 spot on my best films of the year locked up - unless something else truly marvelous comes along before December. (The new Malick? Doctor Sleep? Downton Abbey: The Movie!?)

Overhyping myself much?

Maybe we'll finally see True Lies in HD.

If you've got it on the D-Theater format, you can watch it in HD. There's a master out there, but nothing's been done with it in thirteen years. It's bizarre and frustrating.

Between the True Lies TV show on Disney+ and Aykroyd's Ghostbusters pilot, this felt like an April Fools post. Yikes.

Sorry, Dan, but this idea is lousy.

Part of what made the film is that the team were your every day working man who fell into this bizarre world where they not only find out ghosts are indeed real but there are a lot of them.

It destroys that whole premise when they've not only encountered ghosts, but it was a regular thing. Think of Xander Harris from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" having a prequel where he encountered demons and what not before he met Buffy Summers.

It's not a neat idea, it's a bad idea. The premise itself could work if it were set after the events of the first film and it was the [surviving] Ghostbusters teaching a class of students (which may or may not include their offspring) how to bust ghost and learn about the various forms the otherworldly come in (imagine having to study Tobin's Spirit Guide), which they paid to take and have to pass in order to get licensed by the state to use the equipment and bust ghosts (yep, government bureaucracy is still a bad guy in my continued world building).

Well said, Sophie!

HUMANS---AMC cancelled the series.

Damn! Same fate as the Swedish original series, then. A shame; one of the better shows in recent years (both the Swedish and English-language remake).

More than half of those polled were satisfied with the GOT finale.

Iirc DEXTER had a high.negative reaction. So did SOPRANOS....LOST... SEINFELD etc

Really looking forward to Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (especially after that trailer). I don't think I'm interested in any other new film.

Perhaps this Tarantino film will "catapult" that oh-so dated Baby Boomer slang into prominence once again. For too long, words like "groovy", "far out", and "heavy" have been underused.
