WEDNESDAY, MAY 22 STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---new photos with new characters released from the sequel. Finn and Jannah (Naomie Ackie). General Hux and Allegiant General Pryde (Richard E. Grant). The Knights of Ren with JJ Abrams. Kylo Ren and Rey. Poe Dameron and Lando Calrissian. Zorri Buss (Keri Russell). TENET---the title for Christopher Nolan's new movie about international espionage across seven nations is TENET. Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Aaron Taylor-Young will co-star with John David Washington, Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki. GAME OF THRONES---Emilia Clarke said she watched Adolf Hitler speeches to inspire her for Daenerys Targaryen's victory speeches to her troops, "In giving all these speeches in fake languages, I watched a lot of videos of — now it seems funny — dictators and powerful leaders speaking a different language to see if I could understand what they were saying without knowing the language. And you can! You absolutely can understand what Hitler’s f—ing saying, these single-focus orators speaking a foreign language. So I thought, “If I can believe every single word I’m saying, the audience won’t need to be looking at the subtitles too much.” Nikolaj Coster-Waldau urged fans to start petitions asking HBO to do a sequel featuring Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), "I know they're doing all these prequels, but what about the sequel? With Arya? How about - I'm just throwing something out here - how about a petition? An online petition to HBO that they do a sequel with Arya Stark." This has led to several petitions being started. HBO Casey Bloys said there are no plans for a sequel, “I understand where that comes from, I totally get it. But in terms of wanting to be careful not overdoing it or not killing the goose that lays the golden egg, Dan and David’s show as it stands in eight seasons, I want to leave it as it’s own work of art and not have shows directly, having Arya do that. I think it’s best to try the prequels in other areas of George’s massive universe — just feels like the right thing to do, let the show stand on its own.” Bloys commented on the prequel pilot, "The casting was completed a couple of weeks ago. They are busy in Belfast prepping and getting ready to start shooting in a couple of weeks.” NCIS---Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) made a surprise return in the Season 16 finale. The showrunners said she will return for future episodes, "This surprise moment is just the beginning. We are thrilled to share that Cote de Pablo will guest star in the NCIS Season 17 premiere this fall as Ziva's warning to Gibbs unfolds." DOCTOR WHO---Season 12 photo shows Doctor Who and the Judoon. JUST CAUSE---movie underway based on the video game with Derek Kolstad (JOHN WICK) writing the script. TRIVIA---legendary character Warren Oates made his last film appearance* with Roy Scheider and Malcolm McDowell in BLUE THUNDER, which focused on a deadly high-tech helicopter. Ironically, Oates got interested in acting when he was a Marine aviation mechanic and read a book of Eugene O'Neill plays in the base library at MCAS Cherry Point in North Carolina. *BLUE THUNDER was filmed after another Oates movie, TOUGH ENOUGH, but it was released before TOUGH ENOUGH.

GOT stands as one.of.the great works of art of this century. Like Spielberg before.him with E.T., B and W.are right to leave it be. Brm You seriously buy that response? Its because a sequel would require negotiating new contracts and salaries with established actors. They always go the prequel or reboot route so they can hire fresh talent at cost. It has nothing to do with art or vision. You are such a cynic

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---new photos with new characters released from the sequel. Finn and Jannah (Naomie Ackie). That...Looks...Nothing...Like...Star Wars. Change the creatures to dewbacks and it's fine. It's just another animal. The crossbow or similarly low tech weapon? Not new to SW. Return of the Jedi was full of them. Looks like Star Wars to me.

Change them to dewbacks and it's fine. So it's not fine. At least in Empire they put the money into designing and animating a completely fictional creature instead of a dressed up horse. Chewie had the bow-caster thing or whatever its called but it didn't shoot arrows! Star Wars esthetics are more creative and less on the nose. There are plenty of examples of characters in Star Wars wielding weapons that are arguably primitive. The Emperor's guards wield some sort of melee weapons (the sourcebooks call them Force pikes), several of Jabba's goons wield melee weapons, and the Gamorean guards from Jabba's palace are wielding axes. Some of these weapons have presumably been upgraded with advanced tech, but the axes and other weapons wielded by the the Gamorrean guards would be right at home in any fantasy movie. Of course, the more primitive societies use primitive weaponry, including the Sand People using the gaffi sticks, and rifles that fire bullets, and, obviously, the Ewoks. In fact, given the effectiveness of the Ewoks' bows against stormtrooper armor, wielding a bow isn't that outlandish. Part of the charm of Star Wars is a mix of advanced tech with ancient traditions. The arrow the character next to Finn is aiming does not look like a conventional arrow tip, so it is presumably some sort of arrow utilizing advanced technology.

Well Star Wars to me is New Hope and Empire. Really didn't care where they went after that. This picture looks like something out of Firefly or Cowboys vs Aliens. Like I said to on the nose, "Western in Space" esthetics.

"I have a BAD feeling about this!" STAR WARS: looks like they're incorporating other worlds into this franchise like Star Trek, LotR/GoT meets Western!

Those Star Wars images all look ... fake; like heavy Photoshop jobs of CGI renderings. And I have to second it; if there was nothing obviously Star Wars in the pictures, I'd not know I was looking at something from a Star Wars films. It looks like stuff taken fro ma generic modern science fiction film put into a blender with Narnia and out came something that was then Photoshopped.
