Back in the (G)olden days of my movie score collecting, one of the best things about listening to film music was the discovery of a new score, by an unknown composer, that really lit my balls. The thrill of hearing something like BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (Horner), THE LAST STARFIGHTER (Safan), SPLASH (Holdridge), THE NATURAL (Randy Newman), TRIUMPH OF THE SPIRIT (Cliff Eidelman) or PROMISED LAND (JNH) and knowing you were gonna have stacks of fun, while following this composer, was just immense. I was reminded of this feeling while listening to this score, which arrived at my house on CD this week. The level of beauty and the perfect sound of the orchestra in this music really sent me back to those halcyon days of yore. It's written and performed in such a clear and uncluttered way, that my jaw dropped and my ears popped at hearing such music (albeit from 2004, when it was recorded) for a modern day film. The harp theme in track 11 is sublime. Memories of E.T. wafted through my brain. THIS is why I fell in love with film music in the first place. It's available from Keep Moving Records for a ridiculously low price and I urge anyone who enjoys film music written in a classical music tradition, to seek this one out. https://www.keepmovingrecords.com/product/strings/ Here's a review I found online for it. http://www.tracksounds.com/reviews/strings_j%C3%B8rgen_lauritsen.htm

I second the posters opinion of this score. I would also urge people to seek out the movie for which it was composed. I found it very emotionally moving which surprised me for a movie with an all-marionette cast. Seek out the movie and the score.

Freebie off my sister's fella?? Also most of those keep.moving stuff a worth a listen especially for a fee pennies PS what Paul said about film, apart from the last bit on my copy ,that is

Definitely an enjoyable score...and yes...check out the movie...it's pretty good, if memory serves (it was years ago that I saw it...when I actually got DVDs from Netflix)!

I'm sure he must be thrilled to see his name mentioned on FSM. I'm sure you're not ironic, but it just looked like that. LOL!!!
