FRIDAY, MAY 24

STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC---sources say Lucasfilm is developing a movie based on the STAR WARS video game with Laeta Kalogridis (TERMINATOR: GENISYS, ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL) writing the script. Lucasfilm and Kalogridis did not confirm the report.
Earlier, Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy commented on rumors of a KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC movie, "We are developing something to look at."

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY---writer Jon Kasdan replied to a social media campaign for a SOLO sequel and posted the symbols for the Pykes, Hutts and Crimson Dawn criminal organizations which hinted they might be featured in any sequel.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD---when a female NEW YORK TIMES reporter questioned Quentin Tarantino about Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate having few lines of dialogue in the movie, Tarantino retorted, "I reject your hypothesis!". Tarantino later added, "It's not her story, it's Rick's story...And (Tate) is an angelic presence throughout the movie, she's an angelic ghost on earth, to some degree; she's not in the movie, she's in our hearts."
Juliette Lewis supported Tarantino, "Someone implying your value has to do with how many lines you have is insulting to actors everywhere," she wrote, "and the implication that Quinton (sic) was somehow not valuing Margot because she didn't have a lot of lines again INSULTING and intentionally divisive."
Tarantino also said he might make the 159 minute movie even linger, “I may make it longer. I wouldn’t take anything else out. I’m going to explore possibly putting something back in. If anything, I wanted to go to Cannes too short. if I’m going to err, I’m going to err on too tight.”

TOP GUN: MAVERICK---photos taken from the film set on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt show an F-14 Tomcat with fictional Phoenix squadron markings ensnared in the carrier's crash barricade net. This led to speculation that Tom Cruise's character, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, had an emergency landing on the carrier. The F-14 was retired in 2006, and the non-flying fighter used in the scene was borrowed from the San Diego Air & Space Museum.

FORD V FERRARI---photo of Christian Bale from the James Mangold 1966 Le Mans racing movie that also stars Matt Damon.

WHISKEY CAVALIER---ABC said it is, “taking another quick look at the feasibility of renewing the show” for Season 2.

SPAWN---Todd McFarlane commented on the status of the reboot movie, “The money’s sitting on the sidelines ready to go. I just need to get everyone that wants to put in money to shake their heads to the same script. As you can imagine, everyone has a slightly different version of it in their head. You just go and trying to appease a handful of people while not giving in to what it is that I’m trying to do myself. Because if I have to change it too much, I’ll just walk away from it all.”

TRIVIA---the Academy Award-winning song "Take My Breath Away" from TOP GUN was sung by Terri Nunn, lead singer of Berlin. Nunn had an opportunity to be involved with another hit movie when she auditioned for the Princess Leia role with Harrison Ford in the original STAR WARS. Nunn did not get the role and said Ford, "did not like" her.

How did Ford get the part? He's terrible. big grin

Edit: Haha, that's funny how Han originally said, "They're following us, they let us go".

Hopefully Skerritt & Ironside are casted for Top Gun fine actors - I heard Kilmer is but no word on the others - this movie is going to look really shallow if there's no big-stars if Hollywood wants revenue they'd better raise there butt with wallet.

I don't particularly like Bale barring The Machinist, but Ford vs Ferrari could be ok, I just hope they don't shoot-in corny 60s shoots coz it stands out a country mile - you see it in movies sometimes its poor-workmanship, not expecting some-think great of Bale he's bland but there's some retro in this.

Solo was a bad movie and a big money loser. Why would there be a sequel?

It was actually a fun adventure, so the real issue is box office failure. However, since they covered every important moment in Han's life in one film, what's left?

Badly shot movie, much of it too dark, and the story is so thin and non dramatic, like one line. There is no dramatic weight to that movie at all. A few good action set pieces, that's it, and Solo was badly miscast with Alden Ehrenreich

Well, I liked it. A fun time in the theater with a few nice twists, great callbacks and a good score. It's Star Wars. It's not like I was expecting anything complex...

Not asking for complex, just a story that has some stakes and characters I cared about.

I totally admit, it was paint-by-numbers, hitting all of the points mentioned in earlier films. Low stakes, absolutely. But I really liked Han's relationship with Chewie, which was very sweet. Glover's Lando was amazing and I enjoyed the pacing. It was a popcorn film, nothing more. I Was totally fine with it and would welcome more of them.

I think Han could have been cast better, but he caught the spirit of the character and showed us a lighter version of the guy before he got jaded. Hey, everyone likes what they like. I wanted a breezy fun space adventure and that's what I got.

alright, but even you must agree that doing a sequel for this is a bit silly

Solo was flatly film and mucked up in post with dreary saturation and orange/teal color scheme.
None of the actors or characters were inspiring. The art design was terrible. (literately box shaped speeders.) Nothing felt organic or fluid. And lets not get into SJW robots and pan sexual Lando.
