We recently watched the episode with the kid and the stamp collection. There was a pretty good rooftop chase, a pre-requisite for 70s urban crime films and cop shows.

Mannix had the perspicacity of the pop culture to come:

”To Kill a Memory" (S6; Oct 29, 1972) is a bizarre, hallucinatory precursor to the show's guest star, Martin Sheen, in that he plays a Vietnam veteran. Sheen's "Alex Lachlan" character even has a scene in which he's lying down and looking vacantly at the ceiling while reciting bleary dialogue. The episode is a dress rehearsal for Apocalypse Now.

"The Empty Tower" (S8; Feb 16, 1975) is a precursor to Die Hard, with Joe Mannix conducting similar actions against a heist gang who are robbing every office in an empty skyscraper. Well directed by Bill Bixby. It's unlikely--though not impossible--that the Die Hard producers ripped off this episode since S8 of Mannix is said to have never been aired in syndication.

I'll go back and fix the already bad season three links later today after I post season four.

SEASON 4:

As usual, these are presumably all the credited episode scores of the season, going by IMDb.

"A Ticket to the Eclipse"
By: Lalo Schifrin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWCDg4CY10E

Highlights:
  • 0:15 in.*
  • About 14:30 in.
  • 21:07 in.
  • 24:21 in.*
  • 27:42 in.+
  • 31:48 in.
  • 36:36 in.*
  • 45:30 in.

If I were compiling a set of season four scoring, I'd only include the cues I have marked with an asterix (*).

+ = Boom mix shadow spotted on the left side of the wall for a couple seconds as the camera moves away.

    "One for the Lady"
    By: Jerry Fielding
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lu27yXowBw

This is the final effort by Fielding for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 1:11 in.
  • 2:21 in.
  • 9:01 in. Inside the episode it lacks subtlety and is widely over scored, outside the episode it's just fine.
  • 21:28 in. And the short cue after the commercial break.
  • 33:45 in. Including sneaking around at night music.
  • 37:14 in.
  • 44:47 in.
  • 48:35 in.

    That's half the episode score.

    "Time Out of Mind"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGz_4ydEDVQ

    Highlights:
  • 1:59 in.
  • 6:07 in.
  • 14:40 in.
  • 28:20 in.
  • 29:30 in.
  • About 37:10 in.
  • 39:01 in. And the cue after the commercial break.
  • 43:56 in.
  • About 49.:00 in.

    "Figures in a Landscape"
    By: Fred Steiner
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EI9yKX1-uU

    Highlights:
  • 6:52 in.
  • 11:45 in.
  • About 17:10 in.
  • 21:20 in.
  • 29:15 in.
  • 31:28/35:28 in. I didn't go back and check, but I think both cues can be combined.
  • 36:38/39:28 in.
  • 41:17 in.
  • 43:26 in.
  • 45:24 in.
  • 48:45 in.

I might skip the first highlight on a set of season four scoring.
There's something about trekking across a hot baron landscape that can bring out interesting scoring in composers. Jerrold Immel did it in an episode of "Gunsmoke", for example, too.

Mannix asks Loretta Swit's character if she can drive the jeep and she replies she can, that she's driven them across the battlefields. Obviously a nod to "M*A*S*H", but it strikes me that this could have been a more involving episode had it been her character from the show instead of a one-time nobody.

    "The Mouse That Died"
    By: Laurence Rosenthal
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwGMBKgEN8k

    Highlights:
  • 2:26 in.
  • 6:16 in.
  • 17:56 in.
  • 20:23 in. Exciting, albeit too short, chase/suspense music.
  • About 22:42 in.
  • 29:30 in.
  • 32:17 in. Some off kilter suspense and chase music.
  • 38:10 in.
  • 39:08 in.
  • 46:30 in.

Rosenthal should have at least gotten an Emmy nomination for the score. No score from the series got a nomination.

    "The Lost Art of Dying"
    By: Joseph Mullendore
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUDDcUSvG9Y

This is the only effort by Mullendore for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 1:58 in.
  • 4:12 in.
  • 17:50 in.
  • 21:15 in. Nifty arrangement of the series' main theme.
  • 30:10 in.
  • 32:54 in.
  • 38:29 in. I'd hate to skip it, but it's short.
  • 41:24 in.
  • 48:50 in.

For the guys here: 26:04 in. You're welcome. Even Mannix agrees, as you can see him take a quick look...

According to his IMDb credits, this is the second-to-last project Mullendore scored before apparently retiring. He died in 1990.

    "The World Between"
    By: Lyn Murray
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNRQlLgjaFo

This is the only effort by Murray for the series.

    Highlights:
  • About 0:30 in.
  • 2:15 in.
  • 5:12 in.
  • 12:45 in.
  • 18:27 in.
  • 20:22 in.
  • 23:06 in. Joining a cue already in progress for the oddly cool stuff.
  • 28:19 in.
  • About 35:20 in.
  • 41:51 in.
  • 44:05 in.
  • 45:40 in.
  • 49:25 in.

    That's nearly the entire score.
I would have liked to have heard more from Murray on the series.

    "It's all right then ... there's time ... there's time..."

    "Round Trip to Nowhere"
    By: Duane Tatro
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koL-cD6A8OM

    Highlights:
  • 1:06 in. Car chase music.
  • 6:41 in.
  • 8:20 in.
  • 13:05 in.
  • 14:47 in.
  • 19:44 in. Maybe add 16:19 to the start.
  • 22:26 in. And the cue after the commercial break.
  • 36:30 in.
  • 41:05 in.
  • 46:12 in.
  • About 48:40 in.

    "Shadow Play"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXNzyCp_bkU

    Highlights:
  • 0:04 in.
  • 1:48 in.
  • 4:19 in.
  • 14:47 in. And the cue after the commercial break (which I feel I've heard in another TV series; maybe the same composer doing similar material, maybe a cue tracked from this show).
  • 21:25 in.
  • 25:10 in.
  • 44:35 in.

    SEASON 5:

Again, this should be al the credited scores for season five, going by IMDb. If I missed one, let me know and I'll cover it later.

Already covered earlier in the thread; I'll leave this new link here incase the other one goes bad.

"Dark So Early, Dark So Long"
    By: Laurence Rosenthal
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZonkTms1S6g

    "Cold Trail"
    By: Fred Steiner
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CIhuAZrj_o

This is the final effort by Steiner for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 0:00 in.
  • 5:19 in. Just over two minutes long and little FX.
  • 16:34 in. Joining a cue already in progress for the cool stuff. And the cue after the commercial break.
  • 18:30 in. Car chase music.
  • 33:48 in.
  • 42:10 in.
  • About 44:50 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 49:35 in.

    "Wine from These Grapes"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFTztn6t01Y

    Highlights:
  • 1:34 in.
  • 23:49 in.
  • 29:14 in. Sounds like Schifrin.
  • 39:40 in. Also sounds like Schifrin.
  • 49:02 in. Joining a cue already in progress.

For a set of season five scoring, I'd very likely skip the second highlight.

For the guys here: 18:17 in. You're welcome.
And 25:49 in. Welcome again. ;-)

    "Woman in the Shadows"
    By: George Duning
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hZGmVmm2Aw

This is the final effort by Duning for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 0:00 in. Cymbal tapping and brass for a car chase.
  • 5:30/8:24 in. The second part is a cue joined in progress. The go together and if I were making a set of season five scoring, yes, I'd commit some blasphemy and edit it like that.
  • 14:53 in.
  • 22:48 in.
  • About 25:05 in.
  • 42:08 in.
  • 44:14 in. Cool foot chase music. Not a word I would associate with Duning normally; hearing a whole new side to him on this series.
  • About 48:25 in.

    "Days Beyond Recall"
    By: Robert Drasnin
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoDumdLVsK8

    Highlights:
  • 5:25 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 7:14 in.
  • 11:37 in. The source music.
  • 20:36 in.
  • 25:09 in.
  • 35:16 in.
  • 44:03 in. Joining a cue already in progress.

For the guys here: 1:40 in. You're welcome. Might want to stick around for a minute.

    "The Glass Trap"
    By: George Romanis
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3mggr3apaw

    Highlights:
  • 0:00 in. Over two-and-a-half minutes of 1970's scoring.
  • 3:30 in.
  • 4:18 in. The club source music. I wonder if either of the two guys on stage are real sessions players for the episode score. And just look at his -- it's like this scene was made just to show them off and spotlight the music. Begins before the noted start time, but it was dialed down real low. Also continues at that same low level later on. Probably over three minutes of goodness here. I hope a full source cue was recorded and used as needed.
  • 7:52 in. Over three minutes long.
  • 13:56 in.
  • 22:32 in. The club source music; some soft stuff. The players are seen again briefly, with a third also seen.
  • 28:29 in. And the cue after the commercial break.
  • 34:11 in.
  • 39:10 in.
  • 40:39 in.
  • About 45:20 in.
  • 47:22 in. Sounds like not all the was used.
  • 49:35 in.

I know score fans who want to stick to names they know won't like me saying it, but I can't imagine skipping any of these cues.

    "Babe in the Woods"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0U8b1prSXw

    Highlights:
  • 0:00 in.
  • 1:55 in.
  • 14:19 in. What relaxing nature music should sound like. And the producers were apparently happy with this, as it's music only for nearly the entire cue, and even after that it's very little SFX.
  • 24:30 in. 26:18 in for those who are impatient and want to get to the good stuff.
  • About 44:30 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • About 49:10 in.

    "Death Is the Fifth Gear"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE3qNZnu8S8

    Highlights:
  • About 12:20 in.
  • 18:15 in. Sounds like Schifrin.
  • 20:57 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 31:12 in.
  • 36:37 in.
  • 47:27 in.

    SEASON 6:

Again, this is presumably all the credited episodes for this season, based upon IMDb.

NOTE: All loads are missing their openers and part of the opening credits, so proper loads won't have the time stamps line up to full episodes.

    "The Open Web"
    By: Lalo Schifrin
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzCzcl07Zds

    Highlights:
  • About 0:30 in.
  • 1:58 in.
  • About 3:40 in.
  • 9:27 in.
  • 13:17 in. And the cue after the commercial break (there is brief lull and this cue picks back up).
  • 19:49 in.
  • 20:54 in.
  • 23:13 in.
  • 24:21 in.
  • 29:59 in.
  • 39:35 in.
  • 43:54 in.
  • 47:07 in.

    "Cry Silence"
    By: Richard Markowitz
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDUnNAYmV0A
This is the final effort by Markowitz for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 1:42 in.
  • 14:08 in.
  • 15:20 in.
  • About 29:20 in.
  • 37:40 in.
  • 40:27 in.
  • 44:19 in.
  • 46:55 in.

    "The Crimson Halo"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZF-XQ6Yc6Y

    Highlights:
  • 27:38 in.
  • 40:12 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 44:45 in.

On a set of season six scoring, I'm not sure I'd include any of this.

Guest-starring Burgess Meredith. Qwhuack qwhuack qwhuack.

    "Broken Mirror"
    By: Duane Tatro
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwLi49rED_c

This is the final effort for the series by Tatro.

    Highlights:
  • 0:21 in.
  • 11:44 in. Including the same xylophone(?) technique sounds from Billy Goldenberg's score to "Duel". Tatro was really showing off here what he could do out of the norm.
  • 19:50 in.
  • 24:39 in.
  • 34:19 in.
  • About 43:10 in.
  • 46:57 in.

I'd probably skip that last highlight on a set of season six scoring.

    "The Inside Man"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f34i-gJBms

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 14:18 in.
  • 24:58 in. Romantic material, opening with some mystic.
  • 40:45 in.
  • 44:21 in.

    (NTM: 11:57)

    "To Kill a Memory"
    By: George Romanis
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewtUl-jPdFE

This is the final effort by Romanis for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 3:42 in.
  • 7:06 in. Foot chase music, with some war-flash back music (spaced out tense material without the funky edge of the proceeding material).
  • 14:24 in. The party source music.
  • 17:20 in. Mixed real low, so turn it up. That may make the dialogue bits too loud.
  • 18:20 in.
  • 25:50 in.
  • About 33:10 in.
  • 37:35 in.
  • 41:12 in.
  • 42:56 in.
  • About 45:40 in.

    "The Upside-Down Penny"
    By: Lalo Schifrin (uncredited)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo6ARtrDpaU

IMDb has him down for the score, but the attribute field says "(uncredited)". I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the listing, but just to sure, I'm covering it anyway.

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 4:05 in.
  • About 11:30 in.
  • 15:44 in.
  • 16:54 in.
  • 24:14 in.
  • 29:39 in.
  • 34:56 in.
  • 38:49 in.
  • 41:10 in.
  • 45:25 in.
  • 49:15 in.

    "One Step to Midnight"
    By: Patrick Williams
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjgm2Yrm1to

This is the only effort by Williams for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in. Made of cool.
  • 2:56 in.
  • 6:24 in.
  • 7:05 in.
  • 12:06 in.
  • 14:57 in. And that short cue after the commercial break.
  • 17:38 in.*
  • 20:35 in.
  • 23:49 in.
  • 31:31 in. And that short cue after the commercial break.
  • 36:49 in.
  • 38:49 in.
  • 41:50 in.
  • 48:07 in.

That's all but four cues unless I missed some short transition pieces. I can't imagine skipping any of these on a set of season six scoring.

This episode score must have been recorded before the prior episode, 'cause I can recognize a little of it from the episode above.

Damn shame Williams didn't score anymore episodes.

    * = And the director said, "Pretend you don't know how to hose off a car. Annnd ACTION!"

    "See No Evil"
    By: Benny Golson
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGEUxX4V7Rg

This is the only effort for the series by Golson.

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 1:10 in.
  • 15:36 in.
  • 21:24 in.
  • 23:45 in.
  • 25:40 in.
  • 28:01 in.
  • 29:36 in. The restaurant source music.
  • 35:48 in.
  • 38:07 in.
  • 40:41 in.
  • 43:12 in.
  • 46:19 in.

    "Light and Shadow"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWa6SvDoMao

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in. In fact, all the scoring from 0:22 to 7:20.
  • 21:55 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 32:57 in.
  • 37:10/38:35 in.
  • 46:52 in.

    "A Game of Shadows"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xt0UVwskRM (BAD)

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 7:30 in.
  • 9:02 in.
  • 13:05 in.
  • 18:17 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 21:46 in.
  • 28:09 in.
  • About 31:20 in.
  • 37:41 in.
  • 41:13 in.
  • 43:22 in.
  • 45:17/46:34 in.
  • 48:33 in.

    SEASON 7:

Again, this is presumably all the credited episode this season, based upon IMDb.

    "Race Against Time: Part 1"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTh-f5Dvp-g

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 11:48 in.
  • 14:44 in.
  • 18:52 in.
  • About 23:30 in.
  • 31:21 in. Over six minutes long.

    "Race Against Time: Part 2"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xl5sqR0byw

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 2:17 in.
  • 27:30 in.
  • About 42:40 in.

I'll assume the possibility that the first two may simply be edit jobs of cues from the previous episode. If they are just new versions of the same material, I'll take them. Otherwise, on a set of season seven scoring, I'd only take away the last highlight.

    "A Rage to Kill"
    By: Lalo Schifrin
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7zgSuBYBxc

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 2:30 in. Got some "Petrocelli" backing going on.
  • Around 16:20 in. Stop and starts for it's few minutes running time. Small ensemble conveying both innocents and disturbed-ness at the same time.
  • 30:11 in.
  • 35:15 in.
  • 43:30 in. The groovy/funky source music.

    "The Ragged Edge"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEyoHdbkDJM

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 5:12 in.
  • 14:53 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 17:27 in. Does Blake know she's hangin' with Mannix? ;-)
  • 24:46 in.
  • 44:50 in.

There's not enough original scoring for a set of season seven scoring (and even less considering what should be released in my personal opinion), so I'd make it a combo set and include more scoring from prior seasons.

Seasons 6-8, despite the paucity of original scores, finds the show a lot more interesting (to me) than it ever was during its S5 ratings peak, which I found to be retrograde and more appropriate to shows which aired during the late 1950s and early ‘60s.

This should be all the credited composers for this final season, going by IMDb.

    "Enter Tami Okada"
    By: Robert Drasnin
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weJWnWZEw48

This is the final effort by Drasnin for the series.

    Highlights:
  • 0:22 in.
  • 5:44 in.
  • About 17:00 in. Foot chase music with brass and cymbal tapping galore, followed by some slow tense music.
  • 28:10 in.
  • 31:15 in.
  • About 37:50 in.
  • 43:21 in.
  • 46:56 in.
  • 48:46 in.

A score with some Eastern flavor.
That's most of the episode score.

"Meeting is the beginning of parting."

    "Picture of a Shadow"
    By: Richard Hazard
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1AjSGqIw1U

    Highlights:
  • 3:00 in.
  • 8:44 in.

And that concludes the series. There were no TV movies or spin-offs. No failed pilots or rumors of one in-the-works that I could find. The star of the show died in 2017.

Just like the prior season, since there is little scoring and not all of it needs to be released, I'd include more scoring from previous seasons that should be release on a season eight set.

There’s the 1997 episode of Diagnosis: Murder, “Hard-Boiled Murder”, in which Mike Connors guest starred as Joe Mannix. The show attempts to tie up the loose ends of a S7 Mannix episode, “Little Girl Lost.” Pernell Roberts, Julie Adams, and Beverly Garland, who appeared in the earlier story, reprise their roles in the Diagnosis: Murder episode.

All (but one) bad links on season one, are fixed. I'm going to other seasons to see what I can do...

Calling "Mannix" score fans: If you happen to know off hand cues in episodes with no credit composer and which episode that originated in, let me know. I don't want people to waste their time going threw all them and placing cues.
